Wicklow County Council and Wicklow Golf Club are expected to reach agreement over a land transfer to accommodate the reopening of the cliff walk.

Speaking at last week's meeting of Wicklow Municipal District, District Administrator Joan Sinnott said she expected the relevant legal papers to be signed later this week. In 2014, fencing and warning signs were erected blocking accessibility for walkers to the picturesque cliff walk from the Glen Turn entrance.

'Once the agreement has been signed we can then immediately start work. We have a trail consultant and we will be consulting with Friends of the Murrough as well. The one concern we have is that we could start to get some bad weather in the winter months,' said Ms Sinnott.

District Manager Brian Gleeson said the works could progress quite quickly if the weather continues to be mild.

Cllr Mary Kavanagh was glad to hear that the trail would include a proper entrance.

'That's good to hear. As long as people aren't climbing up a rope like they are now'.
