Absolutely Fabulous' star to open Bridgewater Centre
Bridgewater Shopping Centre chiefs have lined up an impressive array of stars including models, tv presenters and a fashion icon to help celebrate the opening of the Arklow centre next Thursday (October 4).
Absolutely Fabulous' star and former model Joanna Lumley will perform the official honours, cutting the ribbon on the ?130 million development at 11 a.m.
Three of Ireland's most famous models Rosanna Davidson, Glenda Gilson and Sarah Morrissey will also be there to join in the fun, as will Podge and Rodge star Lucy Kennedy.
A carnival of fun and family celebrations is planned over four days (October 4-7), with face painters, stilt walkers, magicians, jugglers and samba dancers all on hand to entertain the crowds over the weekend.
The car par opens at 10 a.m on Thursday and doors open to the public at 11 a.m. The centre will remain open until 9 p.m. on opening night. Crowds are expected to be huge.
All shops and cinemas will be open and East Coast FM will be broadcasting live from the centre on opening day.
The opening is the culmination of a huge advertising and marketing campaign for the centre, which has included press, billboard and broadcast advertising over the past few months.
While 700 jobs have been created by the centre, several retailers are still advertising to fill the positions.
Centre Manager Greg Devitt said Bridgewater was a symbol of the economic and community strength of Arklow'.
There is a real buzz amongst the Bridgewater team as we approach our opening day and the opportunity to finally share the centre with the community for which it was developed.
