Two Wicklow students have been presented with top awards in this year's 65th Texaco Children's Art Competition.

Naoise Hennessy, a 16-year old student from Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew, was presented with the award for overall winner of this year's competition by chairman of the judging panel Professor Gary Granville and James Twohig, Director Ireland Operations at Valero.

Naoise won the senior 16-18 years category with her work 'Lifelines', a portrait of an elderly lady delicately reproduced using watercolour pencils throughout. Competition judges described her painting as 'a finely detailed study that so perfectly captures the features and character of the subject'.

Joining Naoise among the winners was Eimear Carvill (15) from Loreto Secondary School in Bray. Eimear received a Special Merit Award for her piece, entitled 'Five'.
