Try out handball this Saturday

Wicklow Town resident Tim Kavanagh is hoping to bring a bit of life back to the handball alley in Crinion Park.

The town has a long and proud handball tradition and Tim and other locals will recall spending many a summers day and evening competing against friends in the handball court.

Now he hopes to share his passion for the sport by organising a get-together at the handball alley for 2.30 p.m. on Saturday.

'It's a great sport and I am hoping to get as many people involved as possible, both young and old,' said Tim.

'It also doesn't matter if you have played before or are a complete novice. I was talking to my father about the fun I used to have with the lads playing handball in the summer and he talked about how he used to do the same when he was younger. Lots of people will remember spending the summer months down the handball alley. It's also a fun and inexpensive sport to play.'

If Saturday's event is a success then Tim intends to continue meeting at the ball alley on a weekly and possibly more regular basis.
