Swimming season starts
The Wicklow Swimming Club season got off to a great start as 185 swimmers competed in the first races of the season held on Sunday morning.
The morning started with the Junior sprints. 48 swimmers competed overall. The winners were: Under 6 Boys, first John O'Dwyer; Under 6 Girls, first Caitriona Kavanagh; Under 8 Boys, first Ben Reynolds; Under 8 Girls, first Maria O'Dwyer; Under 10 Boys, first Oisin Kearney; Under 10 Girls, first Eva Fitzpatrick; Under 12 Boys, first Chris Hulin. 29 juniors were back in the water, swimming in the Junior Challenge. Sadhbh Hartley was the winner.
19 Intermediates swam for the Cox cup which was won by Caitlin Keogh. Robyn Brennan won the youths swim. 75 seniors swam for the Kavanagh cup. Kieran Ryan took first place with Gillian Carthy coming home in second followed by Peter McGloin in third.
Racing continues this Sunday, June 9, at 10.15 a.m. with the juniors, youths, intermediates and senior swims all due to take place.
