Roosters present road run proceeds
Members of the East Coast Roosters Motorcycle Club paid a visit to Arklow Cancer Support office on St Mary's Road recently to handover the proceeds of their annual around Ireland run.
Founder Mark Whelan, whose late brother Tony 'Rooster' Whelan was the inspiration for the club, was joined by fellow motorcycle enthusiasts to present a cheque for €10,686 to Director of Services at the charity, Mary O'Brien.
The funds were raised through the club's annual road run around Ireland earlier this year. This is the 12th year running that the club has raised money for charity and, to date, it has raised over €280,000 thanks to the generosity of the club and its supporters. This year, a cheque for €2,500 was also presented to the Alzheimer Society.
Mark Whelan extended thanks to all the riders and their partners who supported this year's event.
