Eileen Patterson was the special guest chosen to launch the 27th Roundwood and District Historical and Folklore Society journal.

The launch-night held in Roundwood Parish Hall also acted as a 30th anniversary celebration of the formation of the society back in December 1987.

Eileen is a highly-respected and well known teacher who for many years taught in St. Laurence O'Toole National School, Roundwood. She was headmistress at the school when she retired some years ago.

Eileen guided many Roundwood children through their education and still remains fondly remembered by all. Coincidentally, Eileen's teaching career spanned 30 years, the same amount of time the society has been in existence for.

Refreshments were served afterwards as members of the society and guests reflected back on the important role Roundwood and District Historical and Folklore Society has played over the past three decades. The journal is now for sale in The Green Room, Roundwood, as well as the Post Offices in Roundwood, Newtownmountkennedy and Ashford, priced €10.
