Mental health association talk on making relationships work
Wicklow Mental Health Association will be holding a free talk at 8pm next Wednesday, April 19, at The Grand Hotel, in Wicklow town on the topic of 'Making Relationships Work: what you need to know.'
Of-course many of us think we already know what makes a relationship work-good communication. Surprisingly the research in this area has found that good communication is actually just the sign of a relationship that is already working and that bad communication is a symptom, not the cause of a relationship breaking down.
This talk by Greystones based Psychotherapist Ann Marie Taylor will look at the true causes of relationship breakdown and relationship success; the underlying dynamics of relationships and the simple changes we can all make that can make our relationships more satisfying and more likely to last. The talk is based on 40 years of research by the Gottman Institute in Seattle into the causes of relationship breakdown and relationship success.
Ann Marie studied Psychology at Bangor University College of North Wales before gaining a distinction in Human Givens Psychotherapy in 2002. She holds a BA (hons) in Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Givens Psychotherapy.
She has worked individually with people under pressure for more than twenty five years, helping people get their lives back on track following major set-backs.
She is a founder member of MindFully Well, a network of therapists across Ireland specialising in treating emotional and stress-related difficulties, using only the most up-to-date methods.
