Lorna collects her keys after car draw success
Lorna Driver of Rathdrum received a surprise Christmas present after winning the first of four December car draws organised by Gorey Credit Union Ltd.
In late 2015, Gorey Credit Union Ltd completed a transfer of engagements with Avonmore Credit Union Ltd, meaning the Gorey group now has branches in Avoca, Rathdrum and Roundwood.
Since then, members in the Wicklow area have had a chance to join the car draw which has been in operation by Gorey Credit Union since 2007, costing only €5 per month to enter.
Lorna was the winner of what turned out to be the 80th car draw and collected the keys to her brand new Peugeot 2008.
Tom Brennan, Business Development Officer at Gorey Credit Union said: 'We are delighted to see a Wicklow member win, as in mid-2017, our common bond area in the county doubled. It now stretches from south Bray down past Curracloe, covering most of County Wicklow and north Wexford. It is great to see winners from different areas - we had an Arklow winner in April 2017.'
Currently the name 'Gorey Credit Union' is over the door of the three Wicklow branches but there are plans to change the name to 'Altura Credit Union Ltd', pending Central Bank funding. A motion to change the name was passed at a recent AGM.
