A celebration of families of all sizes took place in the Abbey Grounds on Saturday with a good crowd in attendance despite some rainy spells.

The emphasis on the FamFest event was on fun and enjoyment and there wasn't any shortage of free activities to keep everyone entertained, both young and old.

Wicklow Pipe Band opened the gathering and there was also a well received performance from the Maguire Family.

Dundrum Hip Hop Dance School provided an exhilarating example of just some of the impressive moves they are able to pull off. There was also a Latin dance demonstration.

Chef Paul Smith manned the barbecue and if anyone was still hungry or needed their thirst quenched they could enjoy some ice-cream or some slushy slurpies.

Other attractions included a giant slide which remained in use for the duration of FamFest, a 40 foot obstacle course for people to test themselves on and a popular basketball bungee run.

There was also a puppet show, magic show and face painting for the many youngsters in attendance.

A scavenger hunt had whole families racing around the Abbey Grounds trying to collect clues, while storytelling sessions had the kids transfixed. Plans are already underway to hold the event again next year.
