The parishes of Kilaveney and Tinahely joined together in celebration on Saturday to acknowledge Fr Raymond Gahan's contribution to the Church on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee.

Parishioners put on a wonderful thanksgiving event to pay tribute to Fr Gahan, who was ordained 50 years ago.

The celebrations commenced with a Mass of Thanksgiving which was celebrated by Bishop Denis Brennan and attended by members of Fr Gahan's family, friends and parishioners.

The entire celebration was organised and hosted by volunteers who pulled out all the stops to ensure that Fr Gahan had a day to remember.

Following the Mass a reception took place in the parish gardens, where Fr Gahan was presented with a stunning homemade cake, baked and decorated by Tinahely woman Mary O'Connor.

A native of Wexford, Fr Gahan has served in Tinahely since 1997 and prior to that was posted in parishes including Askamore, St Leonards, Marshalstown and Ballymurn as well as in the UK, the US and Zambia.
