Congratulations to Glen McStay from Fr Flanagan Boxing Club Blessington on winning the all-Ireland Final at the National Stadium in Dublin.

The fight took place on Friday, April 26, and it was history in the making when he defeated the Munster Champion in the final on a unanimous decision. It was a tough hard hitting contest but Glen was very fast and caught his opponent with some hard backhands keeping consistent pressure on his opponent for all three rounds. Glen defeated the Connaught Champion in the semi-final in another top class bout.

This has been a great year for young Glen winning county, Leinster and all-Ireland Titles. Fr Flanagan Club was only formed this season when Ballymore/Hollywood and Blessington Bosing Clubs joined forces.

Glen has now made history by becoming their first all-Ireland Champion. Glen will now join the High Performance Unit at the National Stadium where he will train with other all-Ireland Champions. Later in the year he will be going to Spain for a week to the famous Sam Storey Training Camp. Sam is a former Irish International and Professional Boxer.

In Spain Glen will get to train and spar with some of the best boxers from all over the world. The Fr Flanagan Club is very proud of Glen's achievement. He always gives 100% in and out of the ring.

He had some great sparring partners in the clubto help him get in peak condition for his success: Brian Gilroy, Dan Murphy, Seán Murphy, Seán Flanagan, Danny Duffy, Sam McStay and Jayo Smith.
