It was a case of a full house for Knockananna GAA's first drive-in bingo game on Sunday.

Around 450 players in over 200 cars sought to claim the jackpot prize during the inaugural outdoor bingo game.

Players were asked to remain in their car throughout the game. Other social distancing and sanitation measures were also put in place.

The fundraiser was extremely popular with bingo players travelling from Bray, Waterford, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin and Arklow to take part in the game. It was a family affair and there was a great atmosphere during the event.

Local bingo caller Liam Lyons did the honours on the stage set up on the pitch while checkers were stationed along each line of cars. Players were asked to honk their horns and checkers collected the completed cards for verification. The jackpot prize of €500 was won by Stacey Byrne.

The event proved to be so successful that the club will hold another drive-in bingo this Sunday. The game starts at 2 p.m., with the club grounds expected to open from 12 p.m. for players. The prize fund is also due to be increased to €3,500 with a top jackpot prize of €800 up for grabs. The funds raised will go towards the development of the club grounds.
