Birthday girl Molly celebrates her 100th
Molly Staunton was surrounded by family for her 100th birthday celebrations having already received a congratulatory letter from President Michael D Higgins.
Molly has been residing at Blainroe Nursing Home for the last couple of years but was brought to her son Pat's nearby home for her birthday celebrations.
Molly was born in Roscommon and moved to Glenealy in her youth. She and her late husband Bill settled down in the village and went on to have six sons and one daughter.
Bill was involved in farming and forestry, while Molly was an active member of the ICA Moneystown Guild and also a big hurling fan.
'She was always a very family orientated woman. She worked very hard throughout her life and has a great wit about her. She is a great character,' said her son Pat.
Family members, including a number of her grandchildren, presented Molly with a special birthday cake to mark her centenary year.
