Credit Union draw winners. Baltinglass Credit Union held their 40th Car Draw in the Castledermot Sub Office on Friday, March 8. There was one lucky winner, Máire O'Conaill from Kiltegan, who won a Hyundai i20 to the value of €17,200. There were five local cash winners who included: Valerie Dowling from Tinahely, who won €1,000, Fiona Leigh from Baltinglass won €500, Patricia Leigh from Baltinglass won €250, and Pauline Fennelly from Grangecon won €250.
The Car Draw is open to Credit Union members and is only €40 per year to be entered into each of the Car Draws throughout the year. Entry forms are available in all six Credit Union offices. Sincere congratulations to all the lucky winners. The next Car/Cash Draw is scheduled for Friday, May 31, in the Square in Baltinglass.
Concert in Germaine's
A concert in aid of the association of Vehicle Recovery Operators (UK), Benevolent Fund is coming up on April 20 in Inisfail, Germaine's. This is a concert not to be missed as it features the very popular country rock singer, Sina Theil, originally from Germany but now living in Naas.

Tearmann Garden upgrade
Tearmann Community Garden are now in the process of upgrading their garden to incorporate a Dementia and Disability area to enable all age groups including people with varying degrees of physical and mental challenges to access and enjoy the garden. We hope it will then be a more valuable asset to all our community and people from the wider area.
We are presently fundraising to meet the shortfall of 25% of construction costs which our leader grant does not cover. We would greatly appreciate contributions from the public to meet this shortfall. Donations can be handed in to the parish office or to the committee members or by phoning Mary at 087 6913257 or Patricia at 086 3783168. We would like to express our grateful appreciation to those who have already donated.
On Sunday, April 14, at midday a fundraising coffee morning and cake sale will be held in the Parish Centre. Donations of cakes will be gratefully received from 10.30 a.m. at the Parish Centre. We invite all in the community to come and support us in this venture.
Introduction to kayaking course
Baltinglass Kayak Club are running an introduction course to kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding from Tuesday, April 16, to Friday, April 19, from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Equipment will be provided and the courses are run by qualified Canoeing Ireland instructors.
The cost is €75 for under-18s and students and €100 for over-18s. This cost includes membership of the club for one year and an opportunity to paddle weekly and progress to take part in weekend trips. Contact 083 3417063 for more details. You can also follow us on Facebook at balto kayak club.
Darkness into Light walk
The Baltinglass Darkness into Light committee is starting their preparations for the fourth Walk for Pieta House in Baltinglass on May 11. All money raised is used by Pietas local services and helps run counselling services as well as the 24-hour helpline 1800 247 247. Over 60 individuals have been directly assisted with the fundraising efforts over the past three years.
Rathdangan Serenity Sound will host a relaxing healing sound bath with meditation next Friday, April 12, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. in O'Toole Hall. In a world full of stress and rushing it's nice to just take time out to unwind and relax. All you need to bring is a mat, a blanket and comfy warm socks. The Bigstone Hall committee is holding a recycling clothes collection at Bigstone Hall this coming Friday and Saturday, April 12, and 13. Clean clothing, curtains, bed linen, belts, bags and shoes (in pairs) are all accepted. The collection does not include duvets, cushions, pillows or socks. Your donations will help towards funds for Bigstone Hall and you will also be supporting the National Council for the Blind.
Go Greener with Grangecon would like to remind recipients of the Ecological Footprint survey that the closing date for returns is Friday, April 12. The completed surveys will play an important part in determining the course of future activities to help Grangecon and surrounding areas to be more environmentally sustainable, as well as giving us a baseline measure so we can see what impact our potential changes will have. Collection points are located in the shop of Moore's Pub, the post box of Grangecon National School and in St Oliver Plunkett Church. Collections from home can be arranged. Stop Food Waste course
Do you want to know great ways to use up all your food, reduce waste and save up to €60 per month? The free course in the Community Tea Room in Baltinglass given by Jim Callery from Wicklow County Council is coming to an end on Wednesday, April 10, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Come along on this final night to take part.
The Lalor Centre is looking for donations of oddments of wool as one of their families is making a patchwork quilt and is going to auction it off in aid of the Lalor Centre. Any amount of wool or colour would be gratefully received.
