Back to back wins for pigeon club
Arklow United Racing Pigeon Club members had their birds away at Kinsale race point on Friday last for the fourth young bird race on the season's young bird race calendar.
Due to unfavourable weather conditions forecast for Saturday, the decision was made to move race marking forward and have a release on Friday instead.
The result of this race once more proved to be a very close affair between two sets of partnerships.
It was the Leonard, Deridder and Callo lofts that were firing on all cylinders to claim back to back wins to add to their success from the previous race flown from Pilmore Beach near Youghal, with Dungarvan race winners Gary and Mark Doyle a very close second.
The bird that did the damage recorded an average speed of 45.34 mph over the 125 miles distance.
This weekend's race takes place from Castletownkenneigh near Enniskeane in west Cork almost 140 miles to most local lofts.
The results of the race were first, sixth, eighth, ninth and tenth Leonard, Deridder and Callo, second and third Gary and Mark Doyle, fourth Tony and Sylvia Molloy, fifth Cullen, Burke and O'Reilly and seventh Joe Maghery.
