Rathdrum: NETA update. work is progressing well in preparation of judging day on September 30. We are putting together a video to show the judges, so footage and interviews with local businesses are being gather along with aspects of our community groups. Thank you to all the sports clubs who gathered in the memorial park last Saturday.
Our next networking event is Tuesday, September 10, in Jacobs Well Hotel at 7 p.m. The event titled 'Regeneration of Rathdrum' will include guest speakers; Simon Wall, architect with Mayo County Council, Deborah Meghen, Coillte and John Webb O'Rourke, Zest Heath care. Parnell Athletics Club
Well done to rising star in the club, Will Phelan on taking fifth place in the under-8 80m final in the all-Ireland Community Games final. Congratulations also to Lacy Shannon.
Next up is the Cross Country Season - training every Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. in the rugby pitch - new members welcome.
And so we have come to the end of another successful walking season. Thirty participants attended our final walk for 2019 on the traditional Whaley Abbey circuit. Yet another fine evening greeted the walkers and all were treated to a final night cuppa at walks end before we went our seperate ways for the winter. A big thank you Ann Savage for hosting the walkers and to all who brought goodies to go with the cuppa.
The collection on the last night for a local charity has so far raised €330.A big thank to all who hosted a cuppa, did guest leader but most of all to everyone who turned out to walk.
We look forward to seeing you all again in April 2020 when we commence our 18th walking season.
Fun Bingo will take place on in the Annamoe Centre on Sunday, September 9, from 3 p.m. Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend. €5 per book and great raffle prizes. Come along and enjoy.

Diamond Bridge Club reopens on Monday, September 9, in Roundwood Community Hall. Visitors and new members always welcome. ACTIVE RETIREMENT TRIP

Sunshine Fitness will be starting 'Baby and Me', 'Golden Oldies' (for aged 65+) and 'Curvy Whirlies ' (for plus size women) fitness classes in the parish hall from September 17 Please contact Caitríona at 087 6035780 for more information.
Yoga classes will resume on Thursday, September 12, from 7.30 p.m. to 9: 00 p.m in Roundwood Parish Centre. They will run continuous each Thurs. till end of November. Class will include: Asana-Physical exercises to stretch and strengthen body. Pranayama-Breathing exercises. Relaxation - Release of tension. The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday, September 6, from 9.30 p.m. till 12. Tea served, refreshments also available, door prizes. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, linedancing, etc.
MAYO MUSIC BREAK
A six-day music break tour to Westport takes place on Sunday, October 20, and will leave Roundwood Parish Hall at 9 a.m. and will return on Friday, October 25. There will be music on Sunday night with Robert Mizzell, Monday, Ger Long, Tuesday, Stuart Moyles, Wednesday, Carmel McLaughlin, and Thursday Declan Nerney. There will be visits to Achill Islan, Galway, Doogh Lough Valley and Leenane with a free day on the Wednesday. All in price for dinner, bed and breakfast is €425 per person sharing with €90 single room deposit of €200 to be paid as soon as possible to book your place. Roundwood Men's Shed: The Shed is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to midday at Pat Carr's place in Knockraheen. With all the cake and biscuits it may not be the best place to 'shed' a few pounds but we are learning to control our intake of sugary 'stuff'. Roundwood Badminton resumed in Aras an Tochar after the summer break on Monday, September 2, at 7.30 p.m. and continues every Monday and Wednesday throughout the winter months. We hope to see all our members back in form for another season and also would love to see any new people who would like to join us, social members are very welcome. Don't worry if you don't have a racket, one can be supplied on the night.
There will be a dance in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday, September 20, with music by the Wicklow Man.
MUSIC IN CALARY
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, Mia Cooper (violin), Beth McNinch (viola) and Bill Butt (Cello) from Musici Ireland will play a concert including the following pieces - Reger String Trio 77b and the Mozart String Trio KV563. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear this music played by world class musicians.
On Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m., the Delmaine String Quartet together with Michael James Ford, Clodagh Mooney and Elliott Moriarty will perform Magic in My Eyes. This is an an exploration in words and music of one the most complicated romances in literary history - Thomas Hardy's marriage to Emma Gifford, which went from early rapture to ultimate estrangement, but which inspired some of the greatest love poetry in the English language. Magic in My Eyes charts the course of this turbulent love story through Hardy's verse and journals, along with Emma's letters and recollections.
The Delmaine Quartet have selected music that reflects this complex emotional landscape, drawn primarily from the lyrical, multi-layered chamber works of the brilliant, yet relatively unknown English composer, Frank Bridge (1879 - 1941) Tickets are €18 and €15 for concessions and, for further information or to book tickets, please ring John at 01 2818146 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
