Newtown Juniors FC

We had very little action on the field last weekend as a number of different events meant some games were off.

The under-eights travelled to take on Arklow Town White where both teams proceeded to put on an excellent game of football. Best for the 8's were Cian Foley, Jack Gavin and JP Dunleavy.

Both our 10's and 11's were left without their allocated fixture and ended up playing a game where both squads 'mixed up' to play what turned out to be quite a good game which ended 1-1. David Mackey gave the Black team an early lead but Ryan Collins equalised for the Pink team in the last minute. Man of the match was definitely Nichita Neaga, who pulled off some very important saves.

Our 2018 Presentation Day will take place on Saturday, June 29, in the Newtown Community Centre. Times for the presentation are midday till 2 p.m. and among the awards to be presented are Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Top Goalscorer.

The Roundwood and District Community are putting in an application under the scheme which will allow residents of the area to apply for alarms. The group can assist in installing the alarms if the need arises. The alarms are battery powered so installation is straightforward. If you are elderly, have a disability or are unemployed and do not have a carbon monoxide alarm in your home and wish to apply for one please call 086 8055040 on or before Wednesday, June 26.
