Newtown Juniors FC

For the second week running the weather gods reared their ugly heads and had a negative effect on some of our teams games. Our under-eights travelled to play Wicklow Rovers White on Sunday morning without 10 players from their squad.

However, those who who played played excellently and loads of goals were scored. There were excellent performances from Jake Fitzsimons, John Paul Dunleavy, Tommie Ryan, Jack Gavin, Noah Sinnott-Elliott, Donnacha O'Brien.

Our under-nines were also out away to Wicklow Rovers Green but that game only lasted 15 minutes as the venue was hit with a combination of rain, wind and sleet.

Our under-10s played their first home game but missed chances and poor defending meant Enniskerry edged this game. Albie Chance and Nathan McMahon scored the Newtown goals while Oisin Duffy was outstanding in goal, JV McCullagh-Kelly and Lucas Dowdall were among the players who starred.

The under-11s game away to Enniskerry Red fell foul of the weather, while our 12's were idle. Our 13's travelled to Greystones to take on the B team of Sporting Greystones. In a one sided game it was our team who brought home all three points. Iggy Szpilka scored a hat trick while Jack Finnegan (debut), Aaron Cawley, Paudie Gammell, Keira Farrellly, Max Synnott and Eoghan Fox all found the net in a fine all round team display.

The following are the fixtures for the weekending Saturday/Sunday, March 16/17: under-8s - Fixture to be confirmed; under-9s - Fixture to be confirmed; under-10s - Fixture to be confirmed; under-11s - Fixture to be confirmed; under-12s - Fixture to be confirmed; under-13s - Fixture to be confirmed (Fixtures and KO Times are subject to change)

All players playing football this season will have to be registered online at FAInet. This process was undertaken recently by our club secretary and all players currently in the club is registered. All data provided will be stored in compliance with the Data Protection Acts and will not be shared with any other body or organisation without your consent unless such sharing of information is necessary for your participation in football competitions and activities.

All our teams are back in action and we are still looking for new players for a couple of our teams so if you are interested please contact our club secretary. Our Development Squad practise every Saturday morning in the community centre Sports Hall from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. For all matters relating to training times etc for all our teams please contact our secretary Hughie at the contact details below.

A deposit of €25 per player will be required by Sunday, March 31, with the balance paid by Sunday, April 28. The payment of fees will be organised very shortly and all parents will be notified in due course. The next stage of the FAInet process is to get all the parents and players to sign the relevant forms and we'll do all that this coming week.

Our Last Man Standing competition went into its third week last weekend and unfortunately we lost 22 players after their selections Chelsea (8), Spurs (7), C Palace (3), West Ham (3) and Manchester United (1) all failed to win. Due to the FA Cup and International fixtures there is now a bit of a break before our remaining 76 players have to select again. Week four fixtures will be for the weekend of Saturday, March 30-Monday, April 1. Fixtures for week four will be sent to all remaining players on Monday, March 24. All selections for week four must be in on or before 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. All money we take in go towards the youth of the area. Thank you everyone for your continued support.

Next Sunday being St Patrick's Day, we will be marching in the parade. All players and parents intending to march in the parade with the club need to be at Gregory's Garage for no later than 11.15 a.m. as the parade departs the garage at 11.30 a.m.
