Kilcoole - St. Anthony's church: A Remembrance Mass for all the deceased buried from St Anthony's Church over the past 50 years will be celebrated next Sunday, November 30, at 7.30 p.m.

Christmas Fair

The fair in aid of Greystones Resource Centre, which was held last Sunday, raised a total of €977. Many thanks to everyone who supported the event and who donated prizes. A special thank you to Ann and Angie Prendergast and John Campbell.

Community policing clinic

The Clinic takes place every Wednesday from 6.00 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Kilcoole Community Centre. Services include crime prevention advice and stamping forms as well as most other Garda services. Contact Garda Molly Corbett molly.a.corbett@garda.ie or Garda Alan Thompson alan.m.thompson@garda.ie.

Indoor bowls

Bowls has now returned on Tuesday evenings as well as Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. in St Patrick's/Forrester's Hall. New members are welcome.

Parent/toddler group

Laragh-Glendalough

Historical Society Lecture

Rathdrum Historical Society to host a lecture from Chris Corlett and will take place on Monday, December 3, in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh at 8 p.m., followed by tea or coffee and festive mince pies. Chris will discuss the monastic settlement at Glendalough.

The talk will take you on a tour of the majestic valley of Glendalough, exploring the monuments, legends and history that make this one of the best preserved early Christian church sites anywhere in the world. An archaeologist with the National Monuments Service, Chris has written, compiled and edited many books with subject matters ranging from archaeology, history, folklore and early photography.

A prolific writer, Chris' books include the beautifully produced Wicklow's Traditional Farmhouses, Here Lyeth, The 18th Century Headstones of Wicklow and his latest book Glendalough. He is also a very frequent contributor to the quarterly magazine Archaeology Ireland as well as a variety of national and local journals. Please note the change from the Society's usual Rathdrum venue. There will be a charge of €3 at the door and all are welcome to what should be a most informative and entertaining lecture by a leading expert on Glendalough.

Car boot sale

Our Christmas Special Car Boot is on Sunday, December 2, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come early for your bargains on Christmas decorations and practically anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Christmas Carols by candlelight

We invite you to join us on Tuesday, December 18, at 7.30 p.m. for a unique event to celebrate Christmas. Beginning with a candlelit procession through the monastic gates we will proceed to the ruins of the candlelit Cathedral for an evening of traditional carol singing in the monastic style. Some of our most familiar carols would have been sung here by the monks of Glendalough themselves in the eighth and ninth centuries. Tea and coffee will be provided afterwards in the Glendalough Hotel courtesy of Pat Casey. This a free event and open to everyone, including children, which must be accompanied by an adult. Assemble in the Glendalough Hotel car park at 7.15 p.m. Wrap up warm and bring your own lantern/torch and singing voice.

Solar Sound Healing

Learn how to open your energy gates and release stress and how to use two Sound Healing Techniques to release congested energies supporting your own healing. The workshop will be held in Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, on Monday, December 17, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will also be a demonstration of Solar Sound Healing. Booking is essential. Active Retirement Group

The AR Christmas lunch is on December 11 in Lynhams. AR will be having their Christmas party at Kilashee Hotel on Wednesday, December 12. They will be starting back mid January (weather permitting). Active Retirement group meet every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Brockagh Centre and they have a great line up of activities each week. So if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, dancing and music come along on Tuesdays. The group meet for lunch once a month at various local venues (new members welcome).

Christmas Fair 2018

Once again we see the return of our very popular and successful Christmas Fair at the Brockagh Resource Centre. A terrific selection of unusual gifts, with many handmade items, giving you some great ideas for your Christmas shopping. Evening Yoga

Viva's yoga classes are for beginners to intermediate on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibility in a relaxing way. Walking group

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour.

Citizen's Information

The Citizens Information Centre at the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 a.m. till midday on the first and third Tuesday of each month. No appointment is necessary for this free and confidential service.

Roundwood

Trips

There will be a five-day trip to Slovenia on April 4 to April 9 at a cost of €699 per person sharing. As there are limited places a deposit of €200 is required asap.

There will be a tour of Scotland in August/September dates to be decided and a Westport country music break in October 2019 which includes some day trips. For more details please contact Susan at 087 6273032.

Cancer support

Roundwood Cancer Support are excited to announce that their centre will be open before Christmas. The exact date to be finalised in the next week. They are now looking for volunteers to drive patients to their treatments in the various hospitals. If you are interested please contact Roundwood Cancer Support at 087 6062072.

Christmas tree light up

Get your Santa hats and jumpers ready in Roundwood and Moneystown as the Christmas tree lights will be turned on in the village and everyone is invited to come along to make it a special community event to mark the start of the Christmas festivities. The lights will be switched after 6 p.m. Mass (circa 6.45 p.m.) on Saturday, December 8, in the grounds of Roundwood Garda Station. Festive refreshments will be available afterwards in the Parish Hall.

Talk on will/power of attorney

Roundwood Bethany Bereavement Support Group will host a talk and discussion by a qualified Solicitor on Wills and Enduring Power of Attorney on tonight Wednesday, November 28, at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

Set dancing night

A set dancing Christmas party night will take place on Friday, December 7, in the Mill room, Kilcoole with music by Templemichael ceili band. Refreshments served on the night.

Parish sale of work

This Sunday all roads lead to the Roundwood and Moneystown Parish Sale of work which takes place in the GAA Complex from 12 4 p.m. This is always a great community event.

Donations of home baking and produce are most welcome and can be brought to the complex before midday on Sunday, or dropped into Maureen in the parish office between 9.15 and 1 p.m. (Tue-Thurs). Also needed are bottles for the bottle stall.

There are lots of fantastic prizes in the Grand Raffle (tickets are on sale in Roundwood post office and HD Hair Design now) and also delicious Christmas cakes, Christmas floral arrangements, toy shop and Christmas turkey vouchers to raffle and more to be won on the day. It's the place to get your Christmas wreaths and floral displays which are all made and donated by local people.

The word on the street is that the real Santa (who was on duty last year) has cleared his schedule and is making his way back after a much needed rest. Get your Santa hat and your outrageous Christmas jumper ready.

Ceili dancing lessons

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear.

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8 p.m. for the winter months beginning on October 30 Tea served.
