Donard: Table quiz - Donard/Glen Toddler group are having a table quiz next Saturday night, November 24, in Toomey's bar at 9 p.m. Table of four cost €20 to enter. There will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. Come along and enjoy a pre-Christmas night out.

Football club Notes

There was no jackpot winner last week. Colm O'Neill and Celine Keane matched three and won €100 each. The jackpot now stands at €6,900.

Friedreich's Ataxia cards

This year's Christmas cards for Friedreich's Ataxia research have just gone on sale. There are lots of new designs and hopefully there should be something to suit all tastes. They are great value at 15 Irish made cards for €8 of which €5 goes directly to the charity. They are available at all the following outlets - Dunlavin: Centra, Whelan's Pharmacy, Dunlavin Health Centre and the Parish Centre. Donard: John OKeeffe and Cafe. The Friedreich's Ataxia organisation (www, faraireland.ie) has supported two different research projects during 2018 to the tune of €14,000. They are hoping that with your support they may be able to co-fund a further project before the end of the year. Cards can also be got directly by emailing marykearney@gmail.com.

Turning on the lights

Dunlavin and District Forum invites everyone to come along to the 2018 Dunlavin Christmas Lights Switch On event on December 1 Meeting at 5.45 p.m. at Market House. Join us for some Carol Singing followed by a mince pie and mulled wine reception afterwards in the Market House. The Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday, December 2, at midday to 4 p.m. Santa arrives at 3 p.m. To book a stall contact Bernie at 086 2872619.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the Deering family, Milltown, on the recent death of Moira Deering, widow of the late George Deering. Moira is mourned by her sons Norman and Marcus, daughter Orla. Moira's funeral took place in Dublin. May she rest in peace.

The death also took place last week of Jerry Whelan, Knocksters Hil, Five Cross Roads, Jerry' s funeral took place in Monasterevin, may he rest in peace.

Shoebox Appeal

If anyone would like to fill a shoebox for children in need as part of the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal you can drop them into the parish office, Scoil Nioclais Naofa or contact Shona at 087 6884879.

Parish History Book

A new book by Chris Lawlor entitled 'With Much Quiet Fervour' on the history of Dunlavin Catholic Parish and St Nicholas of Myra Church was launched at the harvest festival. The book is now on sale in the parish office, at the back of the church, Ed's Fruit and Veg and Whelan's Pharmacy.

The 80 paged book costs €5 and would be of interest to people both within and beyond the parish. It would also make a very nice gift to send to locals who are living abroad. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to the parish. Would make a great little Christmas present for a loved one.

Culture Bus

The Culture Bus will travel to Dublin on December 16 leaving Dunlavin at 11 a.m. and leaving Dublin at 6 p.m. Soak up the Christmas atmosphere with Vladamir's Viennese Christmas in the Concert Hall at 3 p.m. To book a seat on the bus for either trips telephone 097 9693960. People wishing to go to the concert must purchase their own tickets.

Senior citizens Party

Dunlavin's senior citizens Christmas party will be held in the Imaal Hall on Sunday, November 25. Invites will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Community Games

We are looking for people from Donard, Donoughmore, Dunlavin and Stratford to join committee we can check that you are in Westside area, for your area and children to be part of Community Games. Any questions contact our Facebook page or Mary Brett at 086 3047659.

Friendship Club

The friendship club is meeting every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parish centre. New members always welcome.

The Folk Group

We're at midday Mass on the second Sunday of the month and 10 a.m. Mass on the fourth Sunday of the month. We're always open to new members We practice after Mass, you don't need to be able to read music to join in the singing and there's no pressure to attend every time.

We enjoy singing uplifting modern hymns as well as a few of the beautiful traditional ones. If you're interested in joining us, contact Suzanne at 087 2977794 or speak to one of us after Mass.

Breastfeeding Support

Dunlavin Breastfeeding Support Group meet in Seomra in the Imaal Hall every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to midday. Details from Alice at 085 1699425.

An exciting new Community Space 'Seomra' has been developed by the Dunlavin Parents Group in the Imaal Hall. These rooms are available to be used for a variety of purposes. Enquiries please to dunlavinonline@gmail.com.

TD John Brady will hold a clinic in Dunlavin parish centre on the second Monday of each month from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All welcome to drop in.

Hollywood

No Name Club

A huge thank you to the No Name Club teenagers for running the Halloween Disco which was another great success. Well done to the winners of the Fancy Dress. Caoimhe McGuire, Daven Tutty-Phillips, Nial Dowling, Cara Mooney. Also a big thank you to Shane Healy for doing the disco. Brilliant as always.

Senior citizens party

The senior citizens Christmas party will be on Thursday, December 13, in the Hollywood Inn. More details nearer the date.

Friendship Club

Tidy Towns

Our calendar and Christmas cards proved very popular, they are now on sale in the Hollywood Café, the Hollywood Inn, Tutty's pub and Breda's Hair Salon. Please like and share our Facebook page to keep updated on our progress and what's going on. Our work mornings continue every Sat meeting at 10 a.m., new faces are always welcome.

Dance School

Pilates classes

Lotto - Results for November 15: The numbers drawn were 6, 10, 11 and two. There was no winner of the jackpot. Seller's prize went to Shay McGrath (612). Neighbourhood Alertness

Dark Evenings are fast approaching so be a 'good neighbour and call regularly for a friendly chat and making sure everything is ok'. Thank You. Be alert at all times. You can call Garda Crime Unit in an emergency 045 865202 or 999/112. Also it is important to look out for each other in our Neighbour Hoods and be vigilant at all times.

Hollywood Bingo

Bingo takes place in the Hollywood Centre every Thursday night at 8.30 p.m. We have two jackpots €2,150 and €3,500 to play for each week.

Doctor's Clinic

The Doctor's Clinic will be held on the first and third Thursday of each month from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

Pranic Healing

This is now available in the Hollywood Centre. Pranic Healing is a non- touch energy healing treatment. Feeling stressed and need to relax or need pain relief from aches and pains. If you would like to book an appointment or need more information please contact Margaret Keogh 087 9674570.

Knockananna

Car boot sale

The final car boot sale for 2018 will take place in the hall in Knockananna on Saturday, November 24. The hall will be open from 8 a.m. to allow people to setup. If you need a table, please come early as supply is limited. A pitch costs €10.

If you are not selling, please come along anyway and see what is on offer, you never know what pre-loved treasure you might come across. And, if you are not buying or selling, come and have a cuppa and a chat with your neighbours.

Tidy Towns

We have had a wonderful year in Tidy Towns. We gained another 13 points in the competition this year, which is significant. We have enjoyed continued support at our monthly car boot sales which has kept the funding coming in. It is also a great opportunity for people to tell us what they really think, which, so far, has been really positive and appreciative.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and hard work. We wish you all a happy, peaceful Christmas and best wishes for 2019.

Kiltegan

Variety show

A variety show will take place in St Tegan's Hall, Kiltegan next Saturday, November 24, at 8 p.m. There will be lots of sketches, dancing, singing, lip sync, storytelling and more. Make sure not to miss this. Tickets are €10 each and are available from committee members or ring 087 9902218 or 059 6473143. All proceeds are In aid of senior citizens and the Hall Upkeep Fund.

Music night in Horans
