Donard: Football Club Notes - There was no jackpot winner on Monday, December 23. It is now up to €15,000.

Last week Miley Balfe, Kevin Smyth, Breda Brophy, Charlie Walshe, M Metcalfe and Ted Flynn matched three and won €35 each. Murt Halloran, Bridget Curran, John Eager, O'Reilly's Shop, Billy Flynn the Glen Shop and Sinéad Doyle each won a bottle of whiskey. Toomey's Bar won the seller's prize. Next draw is on January 6.

We were very lucky with the weather on St Stephen's Day for our annual Rounders games. We had a new pitch thanks to John Hussey and new bats thanks to Stewart Hankin. We had two very fit and skilful teams. This was a three round competition between' Demesne Men 'and' Studfield Stars'. Demesne Men won overall by 3points, 20 to 17. Demesne Men and girls were: Philip Matuschka, Paudi Daly, Suzie Toomey, Philip Matuschka Jnr. Delia Dempsey, Richard Matuschka, Sophie Matuschka and Conor Kelly. Studfield Stars were: Simon Matthews, Beatrice Matuschka, Ronan Kelly, Emer Kelly, Jerome Kelly, Eoin Kelly and Andrea Bohng.

CCE news

Music classes resume in Donard NS on Thursday, January 9, at 8 p.m. All instruments taught. New members very welcome.

The annual ceili in aid of Baltinglass Daycare will take place on Friday. February 14 (Valentine's night) in Donard Community Hall starting at 9 p.m. Donations for the raffle would be very welcome. If you would like further information please contact 086 0645291.



Thanks to everyone who helped and supported the Friedreich's Ataxia fundraiser on St Stephen's Day. Over €1,900 was raised.


The death took place of Breda Butterfield (née Heaney), peacefully at St Vincent's Private Hospital. Dearly loved wife of Ed and precious mother to Liesel and Martha. Treasured sister of Liam, John, Moira (Hanbidge), Therese (Kelly), Séamus, Deirdre (Constant), Aunts Kit Walshe and Bridie Burke and many relatives and friends. Breda's funeral Mass took place in Dunlavin which was followed with burial in Donard. May Breda rest in peace.

Every Thursday morning we meet in An Lar to draw mandalas, paint tiles or create patterns. We use pencils, paints, markers, compasses all under the guidance of Bernie Sheridan from Wexford. She supplies the materials. We chat and have fun and have coffee afterwards.

The death took place of Thomas (Tom), Mackey, Fryenstown. Deeply regretted by his wiife Mary, daughter Aisling, sons Thomas (Jnr), Declan and Nigel, brother Pat and Noel, sisters Christina, Patricia and Lynda, grandchildren Chloe, Ciara, Shannon, Jade, Aaron, Hannah and Shane, great-granson Aoidh, daughter-in-law Ann-Marie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Tom's funeral took place in Dunlavin. May Tom rest in peace.

Hollywood Centre fundraiser

On behalf of the Hollywood centre committee we wish to sincerely thank everyone who supported, attended and donated to our recent social night, with your help we raised €5,900 and was an outstanding success.

The committee also wish to thank the generosity of the Hollywood ICA who donated €1,000 towards the roof repair cost.

And finally we want to thank our young people in the Hollywood No Name Club, who raised an outstanding €1,016 at their recent cake sale which was also donated to our roof repair.

What a great community we live in. Thank you each and every one for your generosity and we wish you all a happy new year.

Friendship Club

Friendship Club Re commences on Wednesday, January 8. We meet every Wednesday from 2.15 to 4.15 p.m. New members always welcome.

The Mini Christmas Craft Fair has been cancelled and been replaced by a table quiz in Tutty's Hollywood on Friday, February 7, Quiz Master Pat O'Neill. Proceeds towards senior citizens summer Outing.

Senior citizens party

A most enjoyable evening was had by almost 100 people at our annual Christmas party on Thursday in the Hollywood Inn. Grateful thanks to Hollywood Inn for providing lovely food to those who donated towards Raffle Prizes and to Ann and Rob for music. We wish all a Very Happy New Year.

Pilates classes

Hollywood GAA

Club lotto draw results: The numbers drawn were 16, 19, 24 and 25. There was no winner of the jackpot. The three seller's prizes went to Frances Kelly 338, Rob Keogh 680, Ellen Kearney 314.
