Donard: Donoughmore Fête and Sports - The annual Donoughmore Fête and Sports will take place at Donoughmore Hall and grounds on Bank Holiday Monday, August 5, starting at 1pm.
There are lots of new ideas together with some old ones. Kids' football will kick off at 1.30 p.m. with the sports back again this year at 2 p.m. There will also be a carriage driving competition at 2 p.m.
Cakes, toys, books, plants, Hoopla and Kildare Crafters will be open for business along with a bouncing castle and refreshments. New this year is a community corner with the ICA Pure Mile, History Group, First Responders, GAA, etc.
This is always a great family day out so come along and enjoy.
Fr Willie Walk
The 35th annual Fr Willie Walk will take place on Sunday, August 18. More details later.
Our second last league game against Stratford was one of those games where everyone got a run. We had more than the required number but the locals were short a few players. It was a good session in preparation for our last and deciding game against Hollywood at home next Thursday. Our players on the night were: Enda Walshe, Dean Flynn, Rory Hankin, Ronan Conron, Colm Toomey, Dean Mann, Rory Toomey, Pat Flynn, James Eager, Tommy Dwyer, Nikki Donovan, Colm O'Neill, Ed Flynn, Colm O'Neill, Ed. Flynn, Kevin Mills, Gerard O'Halloran and Bill Flynn.
On Saturday next in Aughrim, our intermediate team will play Kilcoole in the second game of the championship. This game is at 3 p.m.
There was no winner of the lotto last week. The jackpot is now worth €7,800. Last week, Amy Conroy matched three and won €200. Colm O'Neill won the seller's prize.
Sympathy is extended to the Grace family on the death of their cousin Brendan. Brendan's funeral took place in Dublin. May he rest in peace.
RHSI Garden Show
RHSI Garden Show takes place in Russborough House on July 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attractions include plant stalls, artisan produce, speaker tent with Irish and international horticulture and gardening experts. KCC are now working with Rotary International and the Prison Services to take old bikes, repair them and send them to Gambia so that schoolkids that have a journey of 5km or more can get to school more easily.
We are looking for repairable bikes to be brought to Silliot Hill, Kilcullen, where we have a designated container.

We can offer confidential appointments providing support to women suffering from domestic violence in the community, including court accompaniment. Dunlavin and District Forum are delighted to partner with Dunlavin Friendship Club in availing of a scheme being rolled out by Muintir na Tire.
This scheme allows for the provision of carbon monoxide alarms in houses that don't already have them. Alarms will be provided and installed free of charge with a maximum of two per household.
This Muintir na Tire programme is aimed at persons who do not have existing alarms and do not have the resources to install alarms themselves. We would particularly invite those over 65 to avail of the scheme.

Hollywood annual Sports Day
The Hollywood Annual Sports Day is on Sunday, July 14 (49th year) in Hollywood GAA Grounds with athletic events, dog show, side shows, produce stall, raffle, fun and games for all. Juvenile match at midday. Athletic events from tiny tots to veterans, Mile Race (for our fit enthusiasts) dog show (all dogs on leash), bottle stall, home produce, Wheel of Fortune, Feed the Clowns, Pillow Fight, Clock Golf and many more side shows. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.
Hollywood Walking and Trails Group
The Hollywood Walking and Trails Group meet every Tuesday evening in the village of Hollywood at 7 p.m. outside Tutty's Pub. Our regular walks include the Hollywood Forest, White Bog and the Hollywood Loop talking in part of St Kevin's Way to Church Mt. We also have Wellness Walks for those who like a level steady pace. These walks include the Hollywood Glen, part of the Forest walk and the Hollywood Heritage Trail. Ideal walks for beginners and those who are building their fitness levels, or for people who simply want to walk for an hour and enjoy the flora and fauna along with the companionship of other walkers. Weekend walks take place once a month, the date and venue is confirmed by the team leaders in advance at our Tuesday walks. We are very fortunate to have four experienced team leaders available to guide our walks. Alan and Trina Burke and John and Ann Fitzgerald are very familiar with the trails and hills around Wicklow. The Hollywood Walking and Trails Group welcomes all age groups interested in walking. Our philosophy is 'We don't stop walking because we are grow old; we grow old because we stop walking'. We also encourage families to come on our walks, children and teenagers less than 18 years under parent supervision and any organisations and clubs who would enjoy an evening out walking.
