Donard - CCE news: Our annual ceili with Syl and Liz will take place on Friday, February 8, from 9 p.m. Proceeds will go to Patient Comfort Fund in Baltinglass Hospital. Admission is €19. Items for the raffle will be very very much appreciated.

Football Club Notes
We are becoming a very educated lot of people in our area lately. The football club held the fourth, in recent times, in Fenton's Pub and it was won by an all Football Team -- The Daly family.
The lotto jackpot is now €3,900. There were no match-three winners last week so we had four lucky dips won by Marvyn O'Neill, Biddy Curran, John Whyte and John O'Neill, who won €50 each. Sinéad Doyle won the seller's prize.
Club membership for all ages is now due.
The culture bus will leave Dunlavin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, to travel to Dublin. Some tickets are still available for the Cripple of Inishmann in the Gaiety Theatre. This is an opportunity to visit many of the wonderful sites and exhibitions in Dublin without the hassle of finding parking. Telephone 087 9693960.
First Responders training
Dunlavin Community First Responders are hosting a training morning on Saturday, February 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Imaal Hall. They will be teaching CPR, how to use an AED, Stroke Recognition and Choking Relief and what YOU can do in the event of an Emergency. Training is free however donations would be gratefully accepted. The Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Health Unit will also be outside the Imaal Hall from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m., carrying out free Blood Pressure checks and providing heart health information. Sympathy is extended to the family of Jackie Corrigan, who died last week in the care of thee staff of Silverstream Nursing Home. Jackie is mourned by his sons Paul and David, daughter Julie, sisters Marie (Keating) and Catherine, brothers Billy, Séamus, Pat, David, Christy, Kieran and Nick, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jackie's funeral took place in Dunlavin on Tuesday, January 29. May he rest in peace.
Donard Glen camogie club are holding a table quiz on Friday, February 22, in Toomey's Donard at 9.30 p.m. Table of four €40.
Call for papers
This year, 2019, is to be another West Wicklow Historical Society Journal year, and we hope to publish issue 10 sometime in the autumn DV. As you may already know, our journal also accepts articles regarding neighbouring parts of counties Kildare, Carlow and Dublin, particularly if the subject matter impinges into West Wicklow.
If you would like to contribute a paper, have students who might like to submit a suitable essay or know of anyone who would like to contribute an article, please let us know. Dunlavin Flower and Garden Club will host a demonstration 'The Joy of Spring' by Margaret Murphy and Elizabeth Conlon on Wednesday, February 13, in the Jonathan Swift School Hall at 8 p.m.
A Positive Parenting Programme will take place in Seomra (Imaal Hall), commencing on Wednesday, February 27, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. This programme is a practical and positive course for parents of children aged five to 12 years and will run for six weeks. Festival of Arts
The 2019 Festival of arts will take place on June 21, 22 and 23 inclusive. For any details contact 087 9693960. Next meeting on Saturday, February 16, at midday in Rathsallagh Golf Club. The committee would welcome new volunteers with new ideas.
Scoil Niocláis Naofa
Applications are now being accepted for enrolment to our junior infants class for this coming September. Applications can be made online via our school website snndunlavin.com but a full enrolment form will need to be completed and these forms are available from the office. Any parents wishing to visit the school or who may have enquiries are more than welcome to drop in at any stage in the coming weeks and no appointment is required.
The friendship club is meeting every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parish centre. New members always welcome.
Music lessons are back in the Donard National school every week at 8 p.m. Beginners welcome of all ages both adults and children. Enquries to 086 0645291.
