Margaret Shortall, Tomacork View would like to thank all who celebrated with her on the occasion of her 70th birthday. The winner of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew split-the-pot of January 25 was Nancy Bolger winning €232, tickets on sale from the school or local shops.

Ballyellis National School

Enrolment forms are now available for those wishing to enrol in September 2019. If you know of anyone wishing to have a child enrolled in Ballyellis please inform them that these forms are now available. Friday, January 25 winner of split-the-pot is Celia Nolan, Ballytarsna - winning €167. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

Green schools

All Saints National School are working towards their fifth Green school flag 'Global citizenship Litter and waste' we want a clean world and we are working hard to encourage everyone to reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We are also making 'Eco Bricks' where we put any plastic that can't be recycled into a two liter bottle, when we have enough bottles we will make our own furniture with it, we encourage everyone to do the same.

Kiltegan

Kiltegan Drama

Kiltegan Drama will present 'Happy Birthday Dear Alice' by Bernard Farrell in St Tegan's Hall, Kiltegan over two weekends. The opening performance will take place this Friday, February 8, with all proceeds from that night being divided between Scoil Naomh Brid, Talbotstown and Tynock National School. Tickets are available from the schools or from parents.

The proceeds from the performance on the Saturday, February 9, will go towards Kiltegan National School, and tickets are available from the Hub, or Charlotte at 085 1615689, or Kiltegan School. Other performance proceeds will go towards Kiltegan Hall, the drama group and Beaumont Hospital and it is not necessary to book tickets, as you can pay at the door.

This production is by Juliana Garahy. This is a very topical story focusing on the efforts of a dispersed, dysfunctional suburban family to commit their ageing, gentle, yet resilient mother to the uncertain fate of a nursing home.

Rathdangan Drama Group will take to the stage with their production of 'Try anything Twice' by William Roche. This is a comedy that promises to offer a barrel of laughs. It will hit the stage on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of February, 22, 23, 24, also on the following weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 1, 2, three.

Rambler's Seisun

The next Ramblers Seisun takes place in O'Toole Memorial Hall, Rathdangan on Friday, February 15. This is a great night of song, music, stories and laughter.

Laragh-Glendalough

Position

The Brockagh Centre require a General Administration and Bookkeeper for a busy office in the Laragh Glendalough Area. Duties include input of books and records, bank reconciliations, Vat returns, payroll and general office duties. Excellent opportunity to gain experience in a community environment. Flexibility required regarding hours and duties Weekend or evening work may be required.

Requirements: Good knowledge of bookkeeping and accounts procedures good computer skills and ability to work on your own. A working knowledge of QuickBooks, Thesaurus Payroll and Excel. Good communication skills and an ability to work within a team environment as well as a good telephone manner.

Go4Life Games Day

Wicklow Local Sports Partnership invite you and three others or individually from your group to attend a Go4Life Games Day Wednesday, February 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Newcastle Community Centre. The Citizens Information Centre, the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for information relating to your rights and entitlements from 10 a.m. till midday on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.

GDDA AGM

The AGM of Glendalough and District Development will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre on March 4 at 8 p.m.

Evening Yoga

Viva's yoga classes are for beginners to intermediate on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibility in a relaxing way. Laragh Trail Run 2019

The Laragh Trail Run takes place on Saturday, March 2, with registration at 10 a.m. in St Kevin's Primary School, Laragh. This annual event is a trail run organised by the parents' association of St Kevin's National School, Laragh. The event is a celebration of the beautiful environment of the Wicklow uplands and promotes Laragh as a mountain village ideal for healthy and active lifestyles. The event brings together the community and the walkers, runners and visitors who spend time in this scenic part of County Wicklow. The event is open to all and is suitable for all levels of fitness.

Participants can walk or run a hilly 6km or 12km trails which take them from Brockagh towards Glendalough. The objective of the run is to raise funds annually for the school which from 2013 has housed the area Autism unit and provides quality education to a diverse student body. A free five-week digital skills computer course will be coming soon (depending on no.s). Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, online TV players, podcasts, photographs, security and much more. Car boot sales

Join fellow shoppers for the first car boot of the year on Sunday, March 3, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come early to find your bargains on practically anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Celtic Stars FC

Celtic Stars beat St Anne's 6-2 on Sunday to remain two points behind Slaney Rovers at the top of Division 1 with six games to go. Brendan Behan was the star of the show with three goals and Jason Cush, Thomas Power and an OG making up the rest of the scoring. We are all looking forward to the rest of the season.

Tinahely

Public Meeting Invite

The management committee of Tinahely Community Sports Hall Ltd. are hosting an open information meeting on Tuesday, February 12, at 8 p.m. in the community hall Tinahely. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the community of the proposed extension and renovation works planned for the community hall.

The committee has recently been successful in their application for leader funding towards this project and the plans of the proposed works will be available to view on the night. The hall urgently needs these renovation works carried out which will ensure the continued availability of this wonderful community facility for future generations.

We invite all members of the community and everyone who uses and values Tinahely Community Sports Hall to come along on the night and be informed of the planned developments. Refreshments will be served on the evening.

Variety group

Tinahely Variety Group will present 'Eclipsed' by Patricia Burke Brogan in Tinahely Community Hall on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 6, to February 9 at 8 p.m. nightly, before embarking on the festival circuit.

'Eclipsed' tells the story of four women and an orphan girl in a Magdalene Laundry in 1963. The play explores the relationship between the women and the nuns and how society treated these women. The audience can expect to have plenty of laughs and perhaps at times shed a tear. They will meet Elvis Presley, witness his marriage and join in with some of his best known hits. When the curtain comes down, the audience will leave grateful for the fact that Ireland has moved on and happy in the knowledge that we will never forget.

Tinahely ICA

Tinahely ICA held their guild meeting 21/1/19. Helen McDonnell Presided over the meeting for Kathleen Byrne, president, as she is still recovering and we wish her a speedy recovery. Secretary Breda Murphy read correspondence from head office and we arranged our meetings for the next three months.

We are having Jim Callery from the Department of Environment Wicklow County Council at our next meeting on February 18. On recycling and our completion for that night is a garden on a plate. Madge Kenny and Eileen Doran gave a report on the Drama festival in Glenealy, which was a great success. Congratulations to the ICA ladies who worked hard at putting on a great festival.

Our evening closed with Mary O'Connor winning our competition and a lovely supper supplied by Breda Murphy and Helen McDonnell.
