Carnew: Cabaret - The annual cabaret for Tomacork will be held on Friday November 16, at 9 p.m. in the usual venue, admission only €5, all welcome.

Marriage

Congratulations to John Roche and Sabrina Doyle, who were married recently.

GAA lotto

Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 1, 3, 14 and 25. Lucky dips were Adam Walter c/o Lisa Elliott. Wayne Austin, c/o Snowy. Amy Kehoe, c/o Kathleen. John Cosgrave. The next draw is November 19 in Sinnott's and the jackpot is €2,600.

Askamore Community Games

Due to severe lack of numbers at the Community Games AGM, an EGM will be held next Wednesday, November. 14th at 8.30 p.m. in Askamore Hall. If parents don't attend the EGM, there will be no other option but to close the club. This means that activities like draughts, gymnastics, table quizzes, badminton, soccer, art and handwriting will no longer be held in the Kilrush-Askamore area. This would be a huge disappointment to children who love being part of such activities. Please make every effort to attend next Wednesday to ensure that the Community Games continues.

Coláiste Bhríde's Strictly Come Dancing will take place on November 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available in the school, from the PTA, from any of the dancers or by phoning 086 8500607 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets will also be on sale in Gregan's shop, Coolboy, Tinahely post office, and Aughrim post office.

My Fair Lady

Just a few more weeks for the cast and crew of Carnew Musical Society to put the polishing touches on their 52nd production, 'My Fair Lady' based on Pygmalion by George B Shaw, book and lyrics - Lerner and Loewe. The show will be performed in St Brigid's Hall, Carnew from Monday, November 26 - Saturday, December 1.Coupled with a great storyline the show includes many favourites including, Wouldn't it be loverly, I could have danced all night, Get me to the church on time, The Ascot Gavotte, On the Street where you liveand With a little bit of luck to name but a few. Priority Booking, sponsor and Super Sponsor Tickets are now available from.

The cost of staging musicals is very high and Carnew Musical Society would not be in a position to stage Musicals without the continued support of local businesses and patrons for their sponsorship and patronage. Priority Booking tickets (which replaces the Associate Membership ticket) will be available from all committee and cast members at a cost of €17 each and will entitle you to priority booking for each seat purchased.

If you would like to sponsor, a sponsor ticket will cost €40 and will admit two people and sponsors will have their names listed in the programme. Super Sponsor tickets are also available and please do contact us for more information about becoming a super sponsor. If you have not been approached for tickets and would like to purchase an Priority Booking or sponsorship ticket, or would like to place an advertisement in the programme, please contact 087 9323990 (this is not the booking number).

CARNEW MUSICAL SOCIETY SUPER DRAW: To help with the cost of staging their annual show, Carnew Musical Society have a wonderful Super Draw each year and this year the prizes are: First Prize: Designer Necklace (Value €250) Sponsored by McGuire Diamonds, Gorey. Split the pot

Ballyellis National School split-the-pot winner on Friday, November 9was Josie Doran, Monbay - winning €175. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

Shine a Light

A sincere thank you to everyone who supported the events that was run for Shine A Light for the homeless, to all who donated prizes for the raffle, your support and generosity was greatly appreciated, €3,875 was raised by the committee in Askamore.

Al-Anon family group

Al-Anon is a community resource for families affected by alcoholism. A public meeting will be held on Thursday, November 22, at 8 p.m. in St Joseph House, St Michael's Place, Gorey opposite the RC Church.

Are you concerned about someone drinking? Is someone's drinking affecting you? Are you interested in learning more about alcoholism and how it affects the whole family? Speakers from AL-Anon family groups, Alcoholics Anonymous, professionals, strictly over-18s, admission free with complimentary tea and coffee.

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM on Friday evening last. The following officers were elected and we thank them for their time and commitment to Coolboy GAA for 2019.

Christmas Lights

We are looking for help in the preparation of the tree ie changing bulbs, trimming, setting up the crib, directing traffic, garden lights etc. This is taking place on Saturday, November 17, at 10 a.m., please come and help out even if it's for an hour or two.

Also we light the big tree in Coolboy on Sunday, December 2, at 6 p.m. and we need your HELP. If anyone can lend a hand on the night from Santas helpers, to ticket sellers, to stewarding and more.

We would really appreciate your help on the night, from teenagers to senior citizens are more than welcome.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the Deering family, Milltown, on the recent death of Moira Deering, widow of the late George Deering. Moira is mourned by her sons Norman and Marcus, daughter Orla. Moira's funeral took place in Dublin. May she rest in peace.

The death also took place last week of Jerry Whelan, Knocksters Hil, Five Cross Roads, Jerry' s funeral took place in Monasterevin, may he rest in peace.

Shoebox Appeal

Parish History Book

A new book by Chris Lawlor entitled 'With Much Quiet Fervour' on the history of Dunlavin Catholic Parish and St Nicholas of Myra Church was launched at the harvest festival. The book is now on sale in the parish office, at the back of the church, Ed's Fruit and Veg and Whelan's Pharmacy. The 80 paged book costs €5 and would be of interest to people both within and beyond the parish. It would also make a very nice gift to send to locals who are living abroad. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to the parish. Would make a great little Christmas present for a loved one.

Remembrance Mass

The Dunlavin Remembrance Mass will take place on Tuesday, November 20, at 8 p.m. Please pass these details on to family and friends.

Culture Bus

The culture bus will travel to Kilkenny City on Sunday, November 18, leaving Dunlavin at 11 a.m. and returning at 7 p.m. It will also travel to Dublin on December 16 leaving Dunlavin at 11 a.m. and leaving Dublin at 6 p.m. Soak up the Christmas atmosphere with Vladamir's Viennese Christmas in the Concert Hall at 3 p.m. To book a seat on the bus for either trips telephone 097 9693960. People wishing to go to the concert must purchase their own tickets.

Senior citizen Party

Dunlavin's senior citizen Christmas party will be held in the Imaal Hall on Sunday, November 25. Invites will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Community Games

Friendship Club

The friendship club is meeting every Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parish centre. New members always welcome.

Flower/Garden Club

Dunlavin Flower and Garden Club will host a demonstration 'With Christmas in Mind' on Wednesday, November 14, at 8 p.m. in the Jonathan Swift School Hall. Paula from Flower Box will be the demonstrator on the night.

The Folk Group

We're at midday Mass on the second Sunday of the month and 10 a.m. Mass on the fourth Sunday of the month. We're always open to new members We practice after Mass, you don't need to be able to read music to join in the singing and there's no pressure to attend every time.

We enjoy singing uplifting modern hymns as well as a few of the beautiful traditional ones. If you're interested in joining us, contact Suzanne at 087 2977794 or speak to one of us after Mass.

Community Games

Shillelagh Area Community Games Committee will be holding their annual table quiz with raffle prizes on Friday, November 16, at 9 p.m. in Parkview House, Shillelagh to raise funds for their 2019 program. Entry fee is €40 per table of four. If you don't have a team don't worry, they will find one for you on the night. For further details find the event on Facebook.

Littlewood Hall

On Friday, November 16 the Harvest Social will take place in Littlewood Hall 9.30 p.m. till 1 a.m. Music By Mountain Ash 'Come and Chat, dance and enjoy a platter of warm finger food.' Dancing with Declan

Due to a brilliant exhibition of dancing at the summer Fête in Ardeen Cheshire Home Shillelagh in July this year, Declan is holding Dance Classes in the Courthouse, Shillelagh on Thursday, November 15, at 8 p.m. and will continue every Thursday for the next four weeks.

Tinahely walking club

Walk on November 18: Croghanmoira, B, 12km, three hours. Meet at Tinahely 10.00 or Aughrim 10.15. As usual, please ensure to wear proper walking boots, to bring adequate food and drink and to pack (or wear) rain gear.

Tinahely Christmas lights

On Sunday, December 9, we will have Christmas Carols at 4.30, followed by the 'Switch On' of the lights.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who return year after year to help out with our fabulous Christmas lights. Look forward to seeing you all this year again.

Tinahely Christmas fair

Killaveney Christmas fair

Join us for our annual Kilaveney Christmas Fair on Sunday, November 25. We are calling on parishioners to help make this event happen. We also need donations of home made cakes, bottles, raffle prizes and good quality bric-à-brac. Bring your children to visit Santa. The draw cards will be distributed soon. Thank you for your valued support given to St Kevin's Church.
