Ashford. Community games. On Friday, April 12, our indoor under-13 boys soccer team are hosts to St Brigid's of Kildare in the second round of Leinster, the game will be played in Rathnew soccer club at 8 p.m. Good luck to the boys and manager Phillip.
Congratulations to all the children who took part and won medals last weekend at Swimming, Cross country and well done to the quiz team who put up a great performance at the county final.
Rathdrum Tidy Towns will hold its AGM on Wednesday, April 10, in the RDA Annex at 7.30 p.m. The committee would like as many of the local community as possible in attendance.

Our many juveniles hoping to follow in his footsteps took part in the first county indoor competition, a group of 25 athletes travelled to Abbotstown with Emma Byrne taking First in under-10 in 500m, Second in 60m and also second in long jump. Ella Breen placing First - 60m, second in 500m and first in Long jump. Elizabeth Leschenko third in long jumpU13 Ciara Colohan - First in the 500m, and first in 60m.
Great running from all the boys and girls from aged under seven up to under 14. It was great to gain the experience of running indoors. A big thank you to Theresa and Noreen for organising the event and of course thank you to the parents for a great day.

Dominic Ryan remembered
As it approaches Dominic's first year anniversary the town will honour his memory on Sunday, April 14. Starting at 2.30 p.m. in the Parnell Memorial Park, a short ceremony will take place in which the RDA will unveil a fitting memorial to Dominic.
After this from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a celebration of Dominic's endless commitment to a long list of organisations in the town at Jacob's Well. Come along and share your memories with Dominic's family. Some of Dominic's close friends in the St Vincent de Paul, the Walkers group and others will pay tribute to Dominic.
Mass will be celeberated on April 17 in the church at St Colman's Hospital at 6.30 p.m.
The RDA have scheduled the annual Fireworks Display for Thursday, August 8 - more information will follow during the summer months.
The 2019 summer season of walks commences this Thursday, April 11. We will begin with a short walk around the Slate Quarry in Kilmacrea. Usual meeting times apply. It will be good to get back out and renew old acquaintances and hopefully meet some new ones. Hope to see you all there.
East Coast coffee morning
Don't forget the East Coast fm Wicklow wide coffee morning takes place on this Friday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Vartry House Roundwood (Kavanaghs).
Special guests this year are Leslie Dowdall and Jim O'Neill. Proceeds from all the coffee mornings around Wicklow will go to the seven Cancer support centres in the county and also to Wicklow Hospice.
There will be lots of prizes on the day and refreshments also.

Car boot sale
The Roundwood car boot sale returns on Sunday, May 26, and every fourth Sunday of the month thereafter. Set up of stalls from 9 a.m. Cars €10, Jeep/Van €15.
Vintage tractor car run
Annamoe centre will hold their vintage tractor car run will be on April 14 at midday - looking forward to a great day.
There will be a progressive 45 card game on Sunday, April 14, in Roundwood Parish Hall at 7 p.m. excellent prize money, raffle and refreshments at the break.
There will be an auction of household furniture on Sunday, April 14, in the Parish Centre after 11.30 a.m. Mass. Viewing from midday, auction at 1 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Roundwood Cancer Support Group.
The next Active Retirement lunch will be held in the Roundwood Inn on Friday, April 26, at 1.30 p.m.

Mary Pierce and Pamela Byrne were certainly not April Fools on Monday, April 1, they took first place for North/South second Phil Power and Gertie Fee, third Margaret Bolger and Ger Lenihan and fourth Séamus Kennedy and Gaye McGettigan. First for East/West were Brid Clancy and Bridie Nolan, second Marion Davis and Teresa Leahy, third Monica Brady and Nancy O'Brien and fourth Judy Skates and Maria Magee.

Monica Brady and June Digby played their cards right on Friday, April 5, and took first place for North/South, second Liz Belton and Phil Kenna and third Margaret Byrne and Triona Woodroofe. Marian Davis and Teresa Leahy took first place for East/West, second Kitty Heslin and Miriam Coyle and third Gertie Fee and Jane Cronin.
Mural art project
Roundwood and District Community Council with the support of Kildare Wicklow Education Training Board are running an eight-week mural art project for adults in Roundwood starting in late March.

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh's Lounge All are always welcome - whether you have ever or never danced before. Session starts at 8.30 running till 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a good night of exercise.

Computer coding club
Coder Dojo is a global volunteer led community of free programming clubs for young people. Young people learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology. Coder Dojo Roundwood are looking for any unwanted laptops for use in our local Dojo (computer club). Any laptops donated, no matter what make or age, will be wiped clean of any data thereon and will be reprogrammed to allow children who may not have access to a laptop learn a new skill in this fun environment.
