Annacurra: GAA news - It was with great sadness we said farewell to Aodh O'Neill last week. Aodh was a great club man and will be greatly missed by us all. We sympathise with his family on his very sad passing. Go raibh leaba aige I measc na naomh.

Athletics training is back from this Monday, January 14, and every week from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All school going children are very welcome. A new year begins with activities starting in February. Chess is been offered in 2019 by Séamus Duffy, who is beginning classes in Aughrim National School this Wednesday after school from 2.45 p.m. If interested please contact him directly at 087 3141029. We would hope to be able to enter an under-13 mixed Chess team into the Community Games competition. Its not all about physical sports but cultural talent too. There is something for everybody in Community Games.

45 Card Game

There is a 45 Card game on January 18 in the Saltee, starting at 9 p.m.

Coffee morning

2018 Wicklow Rose Lorna Mallick is hosting a coffee morning and raffle on Saturday, January 19, 10.30 a.m. - 12: 30 in Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely.

All money raised will go directly to Vesnova Children's Mental Asylum Orphanage in Belarus where she will volunteer with Adi Roche's Chernobyl Children International in February. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Sports Complex AGM

The AGM of Aughrim community sports and leisure association will be held in the complex on Thursday, February 7, at 8.30 p.m.

Lotto

The numbers 2, 15, 19 and 27 were drawn in this week's Aughrim Sports club lotto January 7 match-three winners was: Mary Kavanagh, The jackpot was not won. The jackpot now is €4,950.

Pilates Classes

Pilates takes place in Aughrim Sports Centre, Tuesday 5.15 p.m. and 6.30 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. all classes suitable for beginners and improvers. Contact Thérese 087 7731106.

Town and Country Market

The Market Cafe was jammed packed on Saturday last when we re-opened after the Christmas break. People enjoyed catching up with friends while they shared coffee and delicious brunches or yummy cakes and treats. Join us on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pavilion, Rednagh Road where you can avail of fresh local produce, organic fruit and veg, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and home baked goods. Thank you

A big thank you from the Community Care to all the people who brought in knitting and crochet for Crumlin Hospital on December 17. Dervla from Crumlin hospital was in attendance and all the blankets, cardigans, hats, booties and mittens were very much appreciated. Ballyellis National School

Friday, January 11, winner of split-the-pot is Rory Butler, park, Ballyellis - winning €151. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

Kiltegan

St Tegan's Hall

The AGM of the St Tegan's Hall Committee will take place in the supper room on Monday, February 4, at 8.30 p.m. It is hoped to have a good attendance to support this local, important amenity.

Set dancing will resume on Tuesday, January 15.

Kiltegan Drama

Kiltegan Drama will present 'Happy Birthday Dear Alice' by Bernard Farrell in St Tegan's Hall, KIltegan over two weekends in February. Performances will take place on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, February 8, 9, 10 and Friday/Saturday/Sunday, February 15, 16 and 17. This production is by Juliana Garahy.

Happy Birthday Dear Alice is a very topical story focusing on the efforts of a dispersed, dysfunctional suburban family to commit their ageing, gentle, yet resilient mother to the uncertain fate of a nursing home.

The Village Pantry

The Village Pantry has been open seven days a week for four and a half years. Since January is the quietest month they have decided to give their hard-working volunteers a break by closing on Saturdays for the next few weeks.

The Village Pantry will not open on Saturday, January 12, 19, 26 and February 2.

They are always looking for more volunteers, the more people who are involved, the less the pressure on everyone. If you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch with any member of Rathdangan Community Council.

Rathdangan Drama Group

Rathdangan Drama Group will be performing their play 'Try anything twice' by William Rocke over two weekends, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 22, 23 and 24 and the following weekend on March 1, 2, three.

This is a comedy that follows the antics of Michael McGowan after his wife wins a Glamorous Grandmother contest and brings home suave womanizer Clive Cartwright as her prize. Tickets will be available soon for purchase.

Tinahely Variety Group presents 'Eclipsed' by Patricia Burke Brogan from February 6 to February 9 in Tinahely Community Hall at 8 p.m. nightly. Booking essential and will begin Monday, January 28.
