Some old friends couldn't resist the lure of the Ecology Centre at the Dominican College for the 10th anniversary celebrations taking place last Saturday.
The Ecology Centre opened exactly 10 years ago and has since hosted hundreds of students from as far away as India, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, Africa and South America.
The centre includes a fully functioning organic farm with tree plantations, wild flower meadows, a pond and a stream walk.
The farm also has its own organic farm shop open five days a week.
Saturday's celebration also marked 145 years since the convent was first founded in Wicklow.
It also wasn't coincidence that the anniversary was organised to take place on Midsummer's Day, a time regarded by our ancestors as the high point of summer.
A new Peace Garden was launched to mark the occasion in the shape of a beautiful Rose Garden, which will provide a little peaceful sanctuary for any visitors to the Dominican.
Former guests of the Ecology Centre were only too happy to make the return trip to Wicklow and join in with the anniversary celebrations.
