It may be one of the wettest November months ever experienced in living memory but that didn't dampen festivities at the Wicklow Christmas Market held over the weekend.

The Abbey Grounds in Wicklow town has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland, with a growing collection of stalls and wooden cabins selling everything from Christmas decorations to hot chocolate and other delicious treats.

Visitors could enjoy browsing through the great-offers available at the craft market, or enjoy some beverages while catching up with friends or try out some of the delectable artisan foods on offer.

The chance to get a photograph taken with some Alpacas also proved a major attraction - not to mention a magical funfair and some live entertainment.

The Santa Express Experience once again proved a big-hit with Oribel, the mischievous elf, transporting passengers on a magical journey in Santa's wonderland. All of the elves are childcare educated and fully trained SNAs (Special Needs Assistants) who have been hand-picked by Mrs Claus from Ray of Sunshine childcare service.

The Christmas Market also appeals to shoppers from outside the Garden County and attracted a sizeable number of Dublin residents on both Saturday and Sunday. It continues in the Abbey Grounds on November 30 and December 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15.

A special sensory Santa Express train will run at 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, December 8. Lights and music will be calmer although just as happy and festive. One carer goes free per booking.
