The halls will be alive with the sound of music as the Wicklow Sings Choral Festival 2018 raises the roof at Temple Carrig School in Greystones later this month.

Now in its third year, the festival will showcase over 13 of the best of Garden County choirs on Saturday, April 21.

Minister of State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture Andrew Doyle will open the festival, which gets underway at 7.30 p.m..

Greystones singer and festival organiser Dara MacMahon said: 'This festival is a unique opportunity for choral fans to hear the best that Wicklow has to offer. There is massive support and interest in this festival and almost 300 singers will be involved.

'Every choir will perform two songs each and then the finale will see up to 300 singers singing together, which is a powerful experience for both the audience and the singers,' she said.

Alan Cox, Principal of Temple Carrig School, said: 'We are delighted to host Wicklow Sings again this year - audiences will enjoy the diversity of choirs from all over the county.

'It is a fantastic evening and provides a great opportunity for the community to use the facilities of the school.'

Choirs performing at this year's festival include: Voices of Bray, DoMiSo Choir, Serendipity, Beating Time, Unity Gospel Choir, Move4Parkinsons Wicklow Choir, Avondale Voices, Pitch Perfect Ladies, Newtown Male Voice Choir, Temple Carrig School Choir, West Wicklow Voices, Tinahely Women's Choir and more.

Tickets for the festival cost €10 or €5 for students and are available from Eventbrite.ie, Temple Carrig's School Office or the Business Bureau in Greystones.
