David McGlynn sculptures at Art Source in the RDS

A celebrated Wicklow sculptor who embraces the humour of balloons in his work, will be reaching new heights at Ireland's premier art fair Art Source, which will be held at the RDS from Friday, November 9, until Sunday, November 11. Bray resident David McGlynn has said he is very excited about displaying the most sculptures he has ever created, with whimsical aspects to evoke thought from the viewer.

The well-travelled artist - who has opened the Corner Studio Gallery in Enniskerry - uses his globally obtained experiences to afford a real appreciation of life in much of his work. 'I'm very excited about a number of new pieces, including my food-themed sculpture "Elevated Breakfast" which consists of four bronze cast fried eggs in a vertical column, capped with two hidden profiles,' he said.

'Feedback has also been great on many on my balloon pieces including an Executive Knight in armour, carrying a briefcase and a balloon. It's a whimsical contrast between fun and serious. I find that since I started the humourous pieces, I'm enjoying my work more, people seem to be enjoying my work more and I'm more successful with connecting with new buyers.'

Irish art lovers have the chance to get their hands on 100 pieces of original artwork for €100 - as well as unique works by Andy Warhol - at the RDS. The show features a number of amazing attractions for children, including a Superhero Transformation Station.

Admission is €10 adults, €8 OAPs. Children under 16 free only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The fair will be open on Friday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For tickets go to
