Brittas Bay Singers back Syria appeal
The Brittas Bay Singers sang a joyful selection of modern songs at Wicklow Sailing Club on Saturday night.
The group kindly agreed to donate all of the €10 admission fees to the Wicklow Syria Appeal.
Thrilled audience members enjoyed magical renditions of favourites such as Fields of Gold, Rhythm of Life, Hallelujah and many more.
The Wicklow Syria Appeal was formed to assist in a small way those affected by the Syrian conflict, and in light of Wicklow Town's association with the Syrian Special Olympics Team who stayed with Wicklow families in 2003 for the World Special Olympic Games of the same year.
To date the appeal has worked with Transition Year students and fundraised for the Irish NGO Goal, which provides humanitarian aid both on the ground in Syria along with Refugee Camps on the borders of that Country.
Wicklow Syria Appeal hopes to bring a Syrian Refugee family to live in Wicklow town under a UNHCR Family Reunification Programme.
To achieve this, Wicklow Syria Appeal has partnered with a Cork based charity Nasc who have experience in this area. They are made up of a dedicated group of volunteers across the Wicklow business, education and religious communities.
