House prices in Garden County lower than same quarter in 2018
In Wicklow, prices in the final quarter of 2019 were four per cent lower than a year previously, compared to a rise of six per cent seen a year ago, according to the latest Daft.ie Sales Report.
The average house price in the Garden County is now €321,000 - 58 per cent above its lowest point.
In Ireland house prices fell by 1.2 per cent during 2019, the first calendar year recording a fall in prices since 2012. The average price nationwide in the final quarter of the year was €250,766, 2.4 per cent lower than in the third quarter and 1.2 per cent lower than a year ago.
In Wicklow, the average price of a one-bed apartment is €131,000, while a two-bed terraced house costs on average €172,000. The average cost of a three-bed semi-detached house is €238,000, with a four-bed bungalow costing an average of €467,000 and a five-bed detached €496,000.
There were almost 16,500 transactions in Leinster, outside of Dublin, in the year to September 2019, up 18 per cent on the twelve months to September 2018.
There were just over 6,000 properties for sale in Leinster in December, a 2 per cent increase on the same date in 2018 - compared to a 20 per cent increase in supply during 2018.
The expected change in house prices over the coming twelve months currently stands at -0.4 per cent nationally, the first time it has been negative in six years.
