WICKLOW’S Mountain Rescue teams experienced a busy few days as they responded to three separate callouts over consecutive days.
Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were both tasked on Saturday, May 13, to respond to two people lost near Djouce in the valley above Glasnamullen forest. The pair were located and were then guided off the hill by mountain rescue personnel.
On Sunday, May 14, the two teams assisted a person who sustained a shoulder injury on the upper slopes of Mullaghcleevaun. The patient was treated by mountain rescue personnel and winched aboard R116 to be transferred to hospital.
Both teams were back in action on Monday, May 15, as they aided a patient with a knee injury in Glendalough. It was the 33rd Wicklow callout of the year and the patient was treated on the scene and carried off the mountain in a stretcher before being handed over to the National Ambulance Service.
