Every Saturday the library hosts story-time for children up to six years of age, while every Thursday Comhrá agus Ceol takes place at 11.15 a.m., which involves conversation and song for children aged up to four years.

Energy Awareness Day

Wicklow Pastoral Centre is hosting all kinds of initiatives on Energy Awareness Day - June 18.

Come along from 11a.m. to 4p.m. to find out how you can reduce your energy use and save money.

There will be demonstrations, tips, electric bikes and cars available to try out and fun games for kids.

The event is organised by the Wicklow Sustainable Energy Community, part of Wicklow Tidy Towns promoting cleaner towns and cleaner air.

Heritage Trail weekly walks

Every Saturday at 11a.m. a Wicklow Town Heritage Trail guided walk starts at Fitzwilliam Square in Wicklow Town.

It’s completely free to attend and will take 2hrs to complete. Locals, visitors and tourists are all welcome to join an informative and entertaining trail through Wicklow’s past telling the rich history of Wicklow Town, from the landing of St. Patrick in 432 to the end of the Civil War in 1923.

Bingo

Active retirement bingo will take place in Annamoe Community Hall on Sunday, June 26 at 3 p.m..

Brockagh Digital Hub

The Brockagh Resource Centre was delighted to launch the new Brockagh Digital Hub.

Everyone enjoyed delicious food from Tadgh Byrne who is a chef, presenter and writer from County Wicklow. The Brockagh would also like to thank Senator Pat Casey for officially opening the Hub and everyone else who pulled together behind the scenes to give another rural shared workspace to users in County Wicklow.

This exciting new venture has been funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and is available now for use as a shared work space with high speed broadband connection, lockable workstations, meeting room, and a pod with great views of Glendalough.

Set dancing

Roundwood set dancing has resumed on Thursday nights in the parish hall, starting at 9 p.m.

They look forward to welcoming back our usual dancers and also any newcomers, if they would like to join, are always welcome.

Admission: €5.

Brockagh Market and Car Boot Sale

The Brockagh Market and Car Boot sale is once a month on the second Sunday (except Feb/Mar) and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tea, coffee and food snacks are available. Indoor and outdoor stalls with a variety of items for sale with plenty of bargains from gifts, clothes, plants, books, toys, aloe vera products, artwork, tools, household items etc. Free parking and customer toilet facilities.

St Joseph’s National School

Enrolment for September 2022 is now taking place at St Joseph’s NS in Glenealy.

Jenny’s Pre-School

Jenny’s Pre-School Moneystown has a limited number of places left for September 2022 and are now taking enrolments for 2023.

Round Ireland road closures

Castle Street, Castle Field, Castle Avenue and Monkton Row will be closed from June 18 to June 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. inclusive.

South Quay will be closed from June 16 to June 18. Pedestrian and local vehicular access will be maintained to all areas.

The Main Street and Dunbur Road will remain unaffected for traffic moving in a NW to SE direction.

Traffic will be free to move eastwards along South Quay and can turn right up Quarantine Hill to Castle Street. Summerhill, Bridge Street and the port access road remain unaffected.

Wicklow Active Retirement

Members of Wicklow Active Retirement have been having a busy time lately and are glad to be able to meet again regularly on Tuesday mornings in the Pastoral Centre at St Patrick’s Church.

Line Dancing has resumed and the Choir has started up again on Friday afternoons at 3 p.m.

St Laurence O’Toole NS

St Laurence O’Toole’s National School in Roundwood will be celebrating its centenary in 2023.

This is a great opportunity for both the school and the whole community to celebrate the rich history and development of the national school and also celebrate the current school.

A preliminary meeting has been held between the Roundwood Historical Society and interested staff members in the school to begin to make plans for how to mark the centenary.

They will be gathering ideas, memorabilia, stories, pictures and documents and will be reaching out to members of the community who may be interested in helping out.

They are also seeking anyone who may have artefacts, stories or some just enthusiasm for the event to please make contact with the school.

Walking group

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around the Glendalough area for approximately one hour.

No need to book, just show up on the day.

Happy Days Parent and Toddler Group

Happy Days Parent and Toddler Group is back on Wednesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Brockagh Centre and is geared towards parents/guardians, babies and toddlers who can get together for a bit of a chat.

Help for Ukraine

Are you interested in hosting a refugee for a few weeks or a few months? Or is there any other way you feel you could help a refugee when they arrive?

A local network in the Roundwood district is being developed. A welcoming face is always appreciated.
