Tinahely face Éire Óg in the final
Tinahely soared into the final of the under-14 ‘A’ girls final after a big win over Blessington at the weekend.
Despite the score line, it was a tight affair in the opening minutes, with both sides trading scores early on.
Some strong running from the energetic midfield pair Charlotte Doyle and Ava Stapleton, supplemented with the hardworking Danielle Shannon and Allanah Murphy contributed to scores that opened up a four-point lead.
Blessington replied with a goal from midfielder Katie Behan as well as a point from Ella Richardson.
Tinahely continued to press Blesso from the front with the lively Ella Nolan and Lily Stapleton helping their side extend their lead. In the second quarter of the game, Tinahely opened up a six-point lead which they took into half time.
Blessington continued to try and get at the hosts and a goal from wing forward Ciara O’Neill reduced the deficit. Ella and Leah Richardson added more points for the away side, but it was Tinahely who remained composed and ruthless in front of goal.
Assured goal keeping from Emma Kirwan gave Tinahely a strong platform and the relentless work of Nia Winterbothom, Bea Clancy and Saoirse Tyrell began to shine through.
Erin Donlon and Caitlin Whelan were offering a great outlet up front and quick ball exchanges brought two goads mid-way through the half.
Tinahely now face Éire Óg in the U14 A final after the Greystones outfit overcame AGB in the other semi-final.
