As Avonmore’s Ryan Cahill left the dressing rooms in Shamrock Park on Sunday, he sang out loud and proud, “Oh what a feeling, what a night”.

This reporter was leaning against the wall chatting with Avonmore manager Paddy Broughan at the time, and while Cahill probably won’t represent Ireland in the Eurovision, his gravelly burst of song did capture the feeling of elation felt by Avonmore players and supporters on Sunday after they had dispatched Arklow Town to claim their first ever Wicklow Cup crown.
