THE Wicklow Christmas Market returns for the upcoming festive season in a different location and with the addition of some new events

This year’s market will take place at Leitrim Place, the Murrough, rather than the Abbey Grounds, where the previous Christmas Market has taken place.

Organiser Ed Horgan said; “This year’s Christmas Market will be bigger and better than ever. We are delighted to announce the addition of the new Eco-Rink for ice skating, which is a first for Wicklow. The Santa Express will also see the train go up along the seafront. Wicklow Christmas Market is the perfect way to ring in the festive season.”

The Christmas Market takes place from November 27, through to December 21. The market is free to the public and offers food, activities and entertainment for the whole family. You can start your Christmas shopping, visit Santa and spend the day enjoying the sights and sounds of Christmas.

Located within the Wicklow Christmas Market is the Santa Express, an interactive opportunity to take a magical trip to the North Pole and to Santa’s house. Families will travel in their own train car with Oribel, Santa’s head elf, as the conductor.

Once at the North Pole, families will be entertained by the mischievous Elf and Safety and Mrs. Claus. Then of course, there will be the chance to get to visit with Santa Claus himself, take a picture with Santa, and post a letter at Santa’s official post box.

Food vendors will be onsite offering culinary delights from around the globe, while local artisans will be selling handmade crafts, gifts and art. There will also be a fun fair including carnival rides and games.

A sensory Santa experience will be offered on December 3 and December 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, where the sights and sounds will be toned down and calmer, yet still include all of the fun and festivities of the Santa Express.

Santa Express tickets cost €21.95 for children aged from one to twelve, €13.95 for adults aged thirteen and older and €13.95 for infants under one. Wicklow on ice skating tickets cost €13.95.
