STRATFORD held a Summer Songs concert on Saturday, June 11, to help raise funds for a planned community shop and café.
The concert featured music by the Ballymore Concert Band, followed by Tommy Guns, who are a rockabilly band whose lead singer Taylor Hayes is a part student of Scoil Chonglais in Baltinglass.
Guests also brought their own deck chairs so they could enjoy the experience.
One of the organisers Eileen Channing said: “We want to sincerely thank everyone who supported the event. We are extremely grateful to everyone who attended, especially considering how cold an evening it was.
“We had a hot dog stand and a coffee stand was also available. It was a family orientated event and there were various stalls. It was a wonderful evening.”
It’s planned to locate a community shop and café
in the centre of the village.“We have a premises that used to be Kelly’s shop which is being renovated as we speak. We got some grant funding for the project but we also have to match it with some of our own fundraising. The Summer Songs concert was just one of the fundraisers we have planned and we also have future events lined up,” added Eileen.
