A new eco-tourism project will provide visitors to the Garden County with a unique chance to visit some of the county’s forests.

County Wicklow Partnership and Wicklow Local Community Development Committee recently launched the pilot project, Wicklow Forest Bathing, at the Glenview Hotel in the Glen of the Downs.

A total of 12 guides from across the county were trained in forest bathing, a process of relaxation to reduce stress and help reconnect with nature.  To ensure maximum success with lasting outcomes, the 12 new Wicklow guides went through two distinct programmes during their training including Forest Bathing Guide training and First Aid as well as a foundation course in entrepreneurial business thinking.

It is hoped that Wicklow can develop as a centre for forest bathing over the coming years by providing the opportunity to experience immersive walks with the trained guides within some of the county’s forests.
