The N81

Residents of west Wicklow are being urged to share their views about the N81.

Higher Education Minister Simon Harris has launched a survey  to get the community’s views on the possible upgrading of the N81, the major road artery through west Wicklow.

He said: “I am surveying West Wicklow residents about the necessary improvements to the N81 connecting Baltinglass, Blessington and Tallaght. This is the main route through west Wicklow and I would like your feedback on the type of improvements necessary along the length of this major national road.

“The upgrading of the N81 is a key priority as it is a major artery for both employment, school commutes and the many visitors who come to west Wicklow to enjoy its natural amenities and beauty.”

West Wicklow businesses and residents are being asked to share their views on topics including road safety, school transport, public lighting, and shuttle buses to the Luas. The survey is also seeking ideas from residents and businesses about improvements to facilities for pedestrians and cyclists along with proposals to relieve congestion at a number of bottlenecks on the route.

Information about making a submission to the survey is available on  Minister Simon Harris’s social media channels.
