Martin O’Toole completed a 26.2 miles marathon back in September and raised a total of €8,950 in aid of Rathdrum Cancer Support and St Colman’s Residential Care Centre.
Martin walked the equivalent distance of two marathons for both charities, who remain close to his heart having himself suffered ill health in recent years, including cancer and heart issues.
Having set off rbight and early on September 17, Martin’s route saw him pass through Ballygannon, Ballinderry, Ballintombay, Ballinabarney, Ballintombay Lower, Greenane, Garrymore, Greenane, Ballinaclash, the Meetings and Rathdrum, finishing with two laps of the fishpond and back to Ballygannon.
During the week Martin met up with representatives from Rathdrum Cancer Support and St Colman’s Residential Care, as he presented both charities with a cheque for €4,475.
Martin would like to sincerely thank everyone for their generous donations towards his fundraiser. A special thanks to everyone who supported Martin on the day and to those who joined him at various stages along the walk. A particular mention to Andy Kearns who joined Martin at the start and completed the full Marathon alongside him.
