A man in his sixties was seriously injured this morning in an accident at Arklow Harbour.
Gardaí received several calls about the accident which occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on the north quay.
There were many witnesses to the incident, which saw the man treated at the scene by paramedics, prior to being removed to hospital.
Gardaí and fire crews also attended the scene of the accident.
"It’s under investigation by the Health & Safety Authority,” said Sgt Keith Dempsey of Arklow Garda Station.
Cllr Tommy Annesley said his thoughts are first and foremost with the man and his family.
"Hopefully it’s not a tragedy. I haven’t heard details about the circumstances but I wish the best for the person.”
Cllr Pat Fitzgerald said he spoke with an Irish Water official who confirmed the man was not injured in the works they are carrying out on the treatment plant near the harbour.
