IRELAND’S leading family music and arts festival Kaleidoscope is just around the corner, and grannies, grandads and grand guardians were all provided with an option of attending for free.

Russborough House, Blessington will open its gates on Friday June 24 to welcome thousands of families to enjoy three energetic days of fun, music and a jam-packed schedule of activities.

Weekend family and day family weekend tickets are still available. A 48-hour option also allowed purchasers of a family ticket to add one grand parent or grant guardian for no extra charge.

The Divine Comedy, The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, Feeder, Dec Pierce’s Block Rocking Beats, James Morrison and JJ Yoda will be among the performers.

Wonderland, which is situated in the beautiful walled gardens of Russborough House, will be home to four stages with over 60 different activities. Step into the world of Cartoon Saloon and their Academy award nominated Wolfwalkers to find your inner wolf while learning the skills of animation and storyboarding. Try out the Tik Tok dance workshop, a high energy dance and fitness class incorporating the latest Tik Tok trends for all ages and abilities.

Discover the forces and mysteries that shape our wonderful world in fun, interactive, and hilarious family shows with celebrity scientist and TV presenter, Mark the Science Guy, or for any budding actors give Clowning Around with The Gaiety School of Acting a go, as you explore, play and create with the whole family. Then grab your teddy bear and come stretch with Elaine Adams and Yogi Kids.

Just a short walk from the campsites and nestled on the back lawn of Russborough, the Rumpledumpus Tent is the perfect spot for children aged up to 4 years. The Baby Rave with Will Softly is a fun-filled, happy-go-lucky DJ set.

The Dublin Stage School will inspire budding performers to reach their full potential and take centre stage with the Toddler Take Over. Lion Pride is a creative dance workshop with Selma Daniel, where families explore joyful and spontaneous expression through body movements, inspiring music, imagination and dance concepts.

The Bubble Guys also promise to be a family favourite, creating amazing displays of giant bubbles of different shapes and colours that amaze not only kids but adults of all ages.

The Kaleidoscope Sports Grounds with Barretstown will host the Kaleidoscope Community Games. If you fancy something completely different, then head over to catch the Sheep Dog Trials Demonstrations where you can see these expertly trained Border Collies in action.

There’s an opportunity to totally chill out in The Woodland Spa with a massage followed by a soak in the Hot Tubs or try Forest Sound Bathing, relaxing to the sound of gongs drumming and chimes.

Tickets bought for Kaleidoscope in 2020 are still valid for the 2022 festival.
