Garda mini-stages rally makes return to Germaine’s of Baltinglass

THERE has been a strong showing of entries for the Garda Síochána Motor Club Germaine’s of Baltinglass Mini Stages Rally with over 100 entries registered for the event taking place on Sunday, September 25.

It will also represent the fourth round of the 2022 Hugo Loonam Motors Midlands East Rally Championship.

Germaine’s are the main sponsors of the rally, while stage sponsors include Pro-Tray and Herbie Stephenson Sand and Gravel.

The Clerk of the Course will be David McCormack, who also took on the role when the rally was last held in Baltinglass in 2017. The route consists of two stages which will be ran three times over challenging roads, with service at Crookstown.

Class 12 drivers Damien McCann and Anthony McCann are the current leaders of the Hugo Loonam Motors Midlands East Rally Championship, with both on 46 points. Thomas O’Rourke, Class4, Tomas Scanlon, Class 4, and Colum Browne, Class 11f, are all on 43 points.

The GSMC Rally will be based in Germaines Hotel, with Scrutiny, Parc Fermé and Prizegiving all centred in Baltinglass. Scrutiny will be at the CVRT Centre in the village, with a secure trailer park located 500 metres away.

The rally is due to start at 9.15 a.m. and the first car is expected to make its return at 4 p.m.. The prize-giving takes place 30 minutes after the final results in Germaine’s.
