RATHDRUM’S Caitlin Byrne is the latest name to put herself forward as a contender for the title of Wicklow Rose 2022.

The Rose of Tralee festival has been a major part of Caitlin’s life since she was a youngster who used to watch the coverage with her parents on RTE. She dreamed of one day representing Wicklow on the same stage.

Caitlin is 23 and attended Sacred Heart National School in Aughrim, followed by Avondale Community College in Rathdrum.

She has since gone on and completed a QQI Level 5 in Legal Studies Pre University in Bray Institute of Further Education, and just last week finished her final exam from the Institute of Technology Carlow where she studied a Bachelor of Law degree for the past four years.

Before the Wicklow Rose selection night on June 5 in the Arklow Bay Hotel, the Roses have a couple more events ahead of them such as a tour of Wicklow, an afternoon tea in the Arklow Bay Hotel and a special guest appearance at the Bridgewater Shopping Centre in Arklow They will also be assigned a ‘Rose Bud’ which is a little girl between the ages 5 to 10 years old could be the future Wicklow Rose in years to come.

Caitlin will be sponsored by Robert and Jackie Casey from Centra Rathdrum where she has worked for two and a half years.
