Brockagh Market/Car Boot

The Brockagh Market & Car Boot is once a month on the 2nd Sun(except Jan/Feb). Open to the public from 10am to 3pm.Tea, coffee and food snacks are available. Indoor and outdoor stalls with a variety of items for sale with plenty of bargains from gifts, clothes, plants, books, toys, aloe vera products, artwork, tools, household items etc. Free parking and customer toilet facilities.

St Kevins Choir Needs You!

Were you ever told in school that you couldn’t sing? Have you always liked music and just needed a push to join a choir? Now is the time! If you have a song in your heart, that is all you need. There are no auditions, and singers, musicians, young and old all are welcome. We learn the songs during a short practice one evening a week, from September to May.

Walking group

On Monday mornings weekly at 10am join the Laragh walking group at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around the Glendalough area for approximately one hour. No need to book, just show up on the day.

Brockagh Digital Hub

The Brockagh Resource Centre was delighted to launch the new Brockagh Digital Hub recently. This exciting new venture has been funded by the Dept of Rural and Community Development. Our new remote working hub caters for individual working professionals, students and corporate companies.

We have a mixture of Hot Desks, Dedicated (Weekly/Monthly) Desks, Pod and Meeting rooms available with High Speed Broadband Connection. Under the National Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme you will receive 3 free days of hub use per person. Vouchers will be valid until the end of August. Register now as a Member on our connectedhubs.ie site to avail of the free vouchers and get an alert when your vouchers are available. You will be able to access your credits from Monday the 27th of June.

Summer Songs Outdoor Concerts

A music weekend at the Brockagh was enjoyed by all with Paddy Casey on Saturday night and Kila on Sunday night supported by Robbie Walsh Trad Band and Tim Doyle Trad Band. Picnic tables and tent style overhead cover from the rain made sure a wet weekend did not dampen audience participation who danced into the night enjoying the best of Irish and contemporary music.

Thank you to all the management and Wicklow County Council for organizing the weekend.


Avondale GAA

Well done to the junior footballers who had a great win over Dunlavin at home in Avondale. Avondale won on a score line of Avondale 4-18 to Dunlavin 2-08

Michael Hogans minor footballers suffered a defeat at the hands of Carnew Emmets. Full time score was Michael Hogans 1-11 to Carnew Emmets 2-09.

Hard luck to the Avondale senior hurlers who put up a great display in Avondale’s final league game against St Pat’s. Avondale came up short by one point. Full time score was Avondale 1-14 to St Pat’s 0-18. On to championship now

The Avondale AA nursery programme continues every Saturday morning at 9.30 p.m. at the club grounds. For all upcoming Juvenile and senior and junior matches for the week check the sports section of the Wicklow People newspaper for time and dates and venues for matches.

Avondale camogie club

Congratulations to the Avondale under-16 camogie team who had a two point win over Kilcoole. Keep up the good work girls.

Congratulations to Avondale girls Tara Byrne and Leah Keogh, who took part in the Wicklow Community Games long puck. Tara Byrne came in second place and Leah Keogh came in fourth place. A great achievement by both girls, keep up the good work.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Thanks to Senator Pat Casey for making the announcement that €280,000 will be awarded to f123 local projects under the Community Activities Fund. The key themes of this is to fund and support groups with the day today running costs and the improvement of there facilities.

The following groups in Rathdrum and the surrounding area that benefit from this funding were as follows: Rathdrum Tidy Towns, Ballinaclash Community Association, Ballinacor Community Project, Rathdrum Christmas lights, Rathdrum Cancer Support Group, Kirikee and Greenane Community centre and Rathdrum Development Association. Thanks Pat for all your hard work.

St Colman’s Hospital fundraiser.

A virtual run/walk will start on Monday, June 27, and finish on Sunday, July 3. A barbecue and medal presentation will take place at 2 p.m. on the St Colman’s hospital site. Sponsor card can be got from Bill Porter in Avondale Sports and Leisure main street Rathdrum or from St Colman’s hospital.

Mizen to Malin Cycle

Michael Dowling and three other cyclist will be departing Mizen head to make the 786km cycle to Malin head on Tuesday, July 19, and arriving in Malin head on Friday, July 22.

Michael has chosen Rathdrum Cancer Support as his chosen charity. It a charity close to Michael’s heart as he lost his dad Paddy to cancer two years ago the three other cyclist have chosen Tiggy Trust to raise vital funds.

There will be an i.donate and and gofundme link linked to all social media pages.

The gofundme line will be linked to Michael Dowling Facebook page and the Rathdrum Cancer Support Facebook page so if you want to support Rathdrum Cancer support and Tiggy’s Trust click the link and donate what you can to these two worthy charities.

Golf summer Camp

Woodenbridge golf club are holding a junior golf summer camp in the month of July 2022 at the Woodenbridge golf club Golf club.

Camp one is on Wednesday, July 6, Thursday, July 7, and Friday, July 8, and camp two is on Wednesday, July 27, Thursday, July 28, and Friday, July 29. Time: 9.30 a.m. till midday Ages: eight to 12 years of age for boys and girls.

Congratulation to Avonmore FC soccer team on there great win against Arklow Town soccer team last Sunday in the Wicklow Cup Final.

Avonmore won on a score line of Avonmore FC 1-0 Arklow Town. Well done lads enjoy the celebrations.

Safety works at Savills Cross Road.

Works are to commence on an NTA project at Savills cross junction in Rathdrum on Monday the 27th. The works will consist of a traffic calming and safety improvements works and there will be a construction of a mini roundabout and improvements of facilities for pedestrians.

The work will take approximately three months to complete the work there will be a manned traffic management system in place for the duration of the work.

Ballinacor community project are holding a scrap metal collection on Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the community field large or small all metal items are welcome.
