Sympathy

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Margaret Dowse nee Rickerby, Main Street, Carnew who died recently, her remains were removed to All Saints Church Carnew on Thursday for 2pm service followed by burial in adjoining church yard.

To the family and relatives of Lester Naylor, London and Carnew who died during the week and funeral service took place on Saturday.

GAA lotto

Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were 11,18,24,28, lucky dips were Bridget Kinsella and Ben Gilligan, the next draw is26th September and the jackpot is €11,600. Tickets only €2 from any local shop or online.

Cabaret

The annual get together for Tomacork church is on Friday 4th November at 9pm in Coollattin Golf Club, music by John Flood, admission €5 tickets can be bought off any of the committee.

Split the pot

The lucky winner of our split the pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew who won €274 was Eileen Kinsella. Congratulations. The winner of our seler’s prize who won €10 was Kai Kearney and the lucky dip winner was Kathleen Molloy. Our next split the pot draw takes place next Friday 23rd September. Thank you for your continued support.

Ballyellis NS Split the Pot

Winner of on Friday 16th September was Claire Deegan, Carnew – winning €120. Split the Pot” envelopes can be had from any parent in the school or by calling into the school. Many thanks to everyone for your support. It is much appreciated.

Men only exercise class

Do you want to start exercising? Do you want to feel fitter and have more energy? There is a men only exercise class on Monday and Thursdays for 8 weeks in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew from 10,30am–11.30am, this course is free. For further details or to register email wicklowsp@wicklowcoco.ie.

Christmas Tractor Run

Following the huge success of the Kiltegan Christmas Tractor Run last year, the committee have decided on a date for the 2022 Tractor Run. It will take place on Saturday, December 3. More details will follow about registration and times. For now, pop it in the diary if you are interested in taking part.

KNOCKANANNA

Boot Sale

The next Tidy Towns boot sale will be on Saturday 1st October. Hall will be open from 8am. We hope to have more craft stalls this year so please keep that date free to come along for a look around.

Even if you are not interested in buying or selling there will be teas, coffees and lovely homemade treats available. Your support will be very much appreciated.

100th Commemoration

On Sunday 9th October there will be Mass at 3pm in Knockananna followed by a wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Col. Commandant Tom Kehoe. There will be refreshments for everyone in the hall afterwards.

Book of Poems

Knockananna native Rose Smith nee Whelan, Carrignameil has penned a booklet of poems call ‘Poems from the Heart’. The poems relate to nature, family and heartfelt memories. One of the poems ‘Our childhood days’ captures the beauty of growing up in Carrignameil.

All proceeds from book sales are in aid of the charity Embrace Farm, the farm accident support network. Books cost €15. To purchase a copy please text 087 9770497. Rose would very much appreciate you support for this worthy cause.

Sewing/Fashion Upcycling classes

Beginners Sewing and Fashion Upcycling classes are coming to Tinahely Fairgreen Resource Centre for a four-week duration.

Tuesday evening course: 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. from October 4 to October 25. Wednesday morning course: 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. from October 5 to October 26.

Dog Owners

To those that walk their pets on leash, a big thank you. To those that don’t please be aware you are endangering the future of the walks for the wider community. The Railway Walk and extension have a strict rule that dogs must be on leash and no dogs are permitted on any of the looped walks. Please remember to bring a bag to pick up the poop.
