AUGHRIM

Ballinaclash and Aughrim Fête

The Ballinaclash and Aughrim Fête will take place on Saturday, July 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Ballinatone Schoolhouse and grounds. There will be tea, Home Baking, Bottles, Vegetables, Plants, Books, Jams, bric-à-brac and a raffle with fun and Games for the children. ALL WELCOME.

Our minor footballers had a great win over a strong An Tochar side last week at home. In a very competitive game we came out on top by the minimum margin on a score line of Aughrim 2-14, An Tochar 3-10.

Our adult hurlers had a convincing win over Arklow Rocks last Wednesday night at home. Next Wednesday we are away to Éire Óg which should be a much stiffer test, please come along and support.

The club is jointly hosting with Aughrim camogie club a medal presentation night in the Meath Arms on Saturday, July 23, please mark the date for your diary.

Cemetery Masses

The following are the times for cemetery Masses in the parish: Macreddin Cemetery Lower, Sunday, July 10, at 2 p.m. Macreddin Cemetery Upper Sunday, July 17, at 2 p.m.

Town and Country Market

Aughrim Town and Country market is back in full swing. The market takes place in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is a great selection of fresh vegetables, floral arrangements, free range eggs, honey, freshly baked cakes and treats, plus wooden products, clothing, jewellery and also Richard’s range of delicious take away eats. Lotto

The numbers drawn in Aughrim Sports Club lotto on Monday, June 27, were 16, 18, 22 and 24. The jackpot was not won. There was one match-three winner: Kevin Dunne, c/o E Lawlor. The jackpot for July 4 is €9,350.

People now have the facility to do the Aughrim Sports Club lotto online. Just go to clubforce.com Aughrim Sports club lotto and take it from there.

The weekly lotto supports Aughrim camogie club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex. People, who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

The Carnew Agricultural Show Society will hold their annual show on Saturday, July 16 in Umrigar.

Ballyellis NS Split the Pot

Winner of Split the Pot on Monday June 17 is Aobha Lancaster, The Burrow, Ballyellis – winning €126. Many thanks to everyone for your support during the year. It is very much appreciated. We hope that you will all continue to play Split the Pot in September.

Tinahely Craft Market

The craft market is now open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The venue is the old Pop up shop opposite the butchers. There is a great selection of beautifully crafted pieces which make ideal gifts. Please come along and support your local artisans.

Dance lessons in Askamore

Dance lessons with Steps and Styles will be taking place every Wednesday in Askamore Hall from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. Starting Wednesday, June 15, Looking forward to seeing you all.

Teenage Disco

There will be a Teenage disco onFriday 15th July from 8pm-11pm in Kenny’s Barn Carnew music by DJ Ciano, admission €10, mineral bar , fully supervised, no leaving until parents/guardian collects. Tickets available from any of the committee or Victor Young’s.

Barn Dance

There will be a barn dance in Kenny’s barn on Saturday 16th July from 9pm, music by Drops of Green, DJ till late and BBQ, admission €15.

Brideswell Patron

The Brideswell patron will take place on Friday August 19th at 7pm.

There will be a monster bingo on Monday 18th July at 8pm in the Big Top in Rathwood, eircode R93 X3F9, prizes 10 games line €50, two lines €75, full house €125. Blue sheet line €75, 2 lines €125, full house €500. Yellow sheet line €75, 2 lines €125, full house €1,000. Book prices Double and double sheets €25. Craft Market

The Crafty Kids club is on Fridays July 22 and August 12. The club will run from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Age seven upwards. €15 includes materials. Have fun making dreamcatchers and wreaths. Contact 085 7239212 to book.

Killaveney Patron

The annual Killaveney Patron/Blessing of Graves takes place at 2.30 pm on Sunday 10th July.

Men’s Shed

We are now open and look forward to welcoming new members from Tinahely, and all surrounding areas. Hopefully make new friends and have a cuppa. We are open Tuesday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attention dog owners

To those that walk their pets on leash, a big thank you. To those that don’t please be aware you are endangering the future of the walks for the wider community. The Railway Walk and extension have a strict rule that dogs must be on leash and no dogs are permitted on any of the looped walks.

Please remember to bring a bag to pick up the poop.
